If you have a c-section they remove the placenta then hun.

If you have a vaginal birth you can have the injection after baby is born which normally speeds it up and the placenta is out soon after but if you do it naturally it can take around an hour. You normally would have the baby in your arms and be having skin to skin contact though yes. You also have the choice to have the cord cut straight away or you can ask to wait until it's stopped pulsing before it is cut.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

It looks like it's been busy on here today, labour vibes to all who need them.

AMC - I'm glad things are looking up a bit now.
Chrissy - hope you get into hospital soon and baby is here quickly.
Clarissa- good luck for the induction.
scottishchick- glad your results came back clear. My baby will also be sharing rooms, so I won't be setting a cot up until she's 3 months old as I don't want to take up some of my daughter's play space when it's not really needed. Baby will be in a moses basket or tiny crib in our room until then at least.
mishka - hope you are feeling ok.
LMM and sexymouse enjoy the groups tonight.

I think I'll be having another early night. Last night I was asleep by 8.30pm, so I've managed longer than that, but my eyes are starting to shut now!

AMC - congratulations! Come join us over on the Newborn thread - it's very friendly :)https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3703511 As for breast vs. formula, I cried for days when BF didn't work out, I felt so guilty and like I was letting my little girl down. She's now a thriving, happy baby and I've stopped feeling guilty. Happy mummy = happy baby, so do whatever you need to do. My OH made me feel better when he told me that I wasn't letting her down, I was giving her what she needed more than anything: love and care. A bit cheesy maybe, but it made me feel better :)

Please tell me that you guys are watching the bbc2 programme?!

I am sat here sobbing away, not only because of all the babies and sad stories but because that doctor lady was really pulling with the forceps! And I really don't want a scary triage midwife dealing with me because I'll probably just cry!

I sooooo don't know if I can watch much more - it seems way more intense than OBEM, but maybe that's because I only have 7 and a half weeks left and I'm sat here feeling all achey 'down there'!!

    Aaaahhhhhh

    Hey everyone.

Hope you're all okay. I haven't read back yet because my brain is foggy!

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced flashing lights before their eyes in their pregnancies? I'm experiencing it and Googling has just got me worried (why do I never learn?!).

My midwife appointment isn't until the 20th August so I don't really want to wait until then, but I also don't want to seem like I'm worrying over nothing. =/

Blimey, another one here who's not sure watching the new Midwifes programme was a good idea. It all seemed a bit scary and worrying to be honest. Although the teacher at our NCT antenatal classes made it quite clear not to pay any attention to the TV programmes as they only choose the most dramatic births to show. There are many, many straightforward births that they don't show because they're not interesting enough.

LadyMorticia, I wouldn't wait until your appointment. Definitely contact someone for advice if only to put your mind at rest. They will not think you're worrying over nothing. Even if it turns out to be nothing problematic it's always worth getting these things checked out.
