Hi ladies, just popping in to say quick hello!
Emsbet, your baby shower sounds wonderful and no more than you deserve
We went to car boot sale today, blooming love them! Picked up some brand new fabric building blocks for £1 (they are on my amazon wish list at £12!) and some books for Joseph for when we starting doing bedtime stories in a month or soMy friend has huge shelves full of books for her toddler - all bought dirt cheap from boot sales which is what I'm also hoping to achieve!
Hope everyone is keeping well

Afternoon all,
I haven't posted on here for what seems like ages as I've just been so busy but I've been reading along. I am in work tomorrow and Tuesday and then have four weeks annual leave followed by maternity leave - woo-hoo! I'm hoping not to have to go back until June/July next year. Really, really looking forward to the break and I'll have more time to spend on here (until little man arrives at least!).
I'm 34 weeks now and I feel huuuuuge. Goodness knows what size I'm going to be in another 6 weeks. Have packed my hospital bag today so I'm ready, just in case. I seem to have an enormous bag of stuff. At the hospital they told us not to bring too much, but by the time I'd packed a towel, going home outfit, dressing gown and all the necessary bits and pieces it seemed like a lot. Oh, well. At least I'll be prepared. I have started writing a birth plan too and I'm making sure DH knows exactly what I want in case they try and talk me into something else when I get there.
Sounds like you are all getting some good bargains at the car boot sales. I must make an effort to check out our local ones. I need more newborn and 0-3 clothes.
Rups I started feeling movement around the time of my 20 week scan. It started off as little, infrequent kicks, which progressed to bigger kicks. Now I don't feel so many kicks but I feel him squirming around and wiggling his bum a lot. Particularly when I've just eaten and when I lie down in bed at night. It's a strange feeling and a bit alien-like at times but lovely at the same time.
Emsbet your baby shower sounds lovely. I don't think I'll be getting one as I don't have any particuarly close female friends and my family aren't into that sort of thing. We have had plenty of lovely stuff bought for us already though and I know that my work have had a collection for me.
Oh and I think there have been a few people join the thread since I last posted so hello to you all :wave:0 -
emsbet glad you enjoyed your baby shower:)
on smokers - both neighbours rent each side of me so are always in their gardens smoking, so i dont get a peaceful rest sitting outside without smelling smoke. it also drifts into my living room and into the back bedrooms if i leave the windows open (one of these is babys room grrr).
sounds like everyone has been of bootsaling today. we have quite a lot of clothes at the moment, waiting to see how big baby is and what sex before we buy more. there are usually boot sales at the local school with good kids stuff.
felt like i was maybe feeling hardening of my stomach today(?braxton hics) but not really sure at all. with my due date tomorrow everything i feel i am wondering if its labour. next midwife appt is on thursday and if baby hasnt come i know i will have to fight her off with trying to book me in for a sweep.
i am enjoying the olympics, watched swimming this morning, some of womens road race and will be watching swimming tonight. have a small £1 on rebecca adlington to win!

I have been having some pain and tightenings and general pressure. I asked at consultant last week how will I know when I'm I labour and she said you will just know lol not too helpful.
My worst fear is not knowing I'm
In labour till its too late and my mum not making it here on time
And my other half missing the birth and having to do it all on my ownlove you lots like jelly tots0 -
jedi - I can't stand smoking either. Since being pregnant I haven't been able to tolerate it at all, the smell is awful. Poor you with the neighbours.
rjh - Did you have a quick labour with your daughter? I just wondered if there was a particular reason you were so worried. How far away is your mum? It might be my low pain threshold, but I certainly didn't have any doubts as soon as I was in labour with my daughter. It was agony lol.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
I was induced with her so I never had any pre labour symptoms at all.
We are in Cardiff and my mum is in Ireland so as soon as I go into labour she has to catch the next plane over. We don't have anyone here who can look after my daughter so if mum doesn't get here I time my oh misses the birth of his first childhis mum is three hour dive away but won't drive the distance on her own so would have to wait For her boyfriend to finish work or boyfriends sister to.
love you lots like jelly tots0 -
Hello all,
Have managed to read back 5 or 6 pages but am just about falling asleep on the sofa so will keep it snappy. Am 31 weeks this week. We just flew to Southern Ireland for a friend's wedding which was lovely, but very tiring. I made a special appointment with my midwife for the week before to get a Fit to Fly Note and no-one even asked to see it! Agh!0 -
Is someone able to update my due date.
Ive been put down at 8th Oct but im actually 8th Nov.
Thanks
xx
I've corrected it now, sorry
