Congrats AMC - well done. Any piccies?!?

Dont worry about the breastfeeding. If it not happening, its not happening. Luke will benefit most from a happy mummy, so try to shelve the feelings of guilt.

A huge congratulations AMC - love the name Luke but my sister's boyfriend is called Luke so we couldn't have the same name - imagine how awful it'd be if they broke up! Sorry to hear the birth was traumatic. Don't beat yourself up about not breastfeeding. I'm still undecided as to whether I will breastfeed or not, and certainly won't be made to feel guilty if I don't or can't for whatever reason. Massive hugs to you and hope you're feeling a bit better soon.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I went shopping today to get some smart maternity work shirts. It was a pain in the !!!! I went into Belfast City centre. M&S said their stores in NI don't stock maternity. It is only available online. In Next I asked 3 members of staff where the maternity wear was and they gave me directions to it. After searching high and low, I asked again and they said they no longer keep maternity wear in any NI stores, look online. I went to Mamas and Papas and they are a little expensive. I got one shirt that I will need to buy a vest to go under as it is ver low at the bust. It was £32. http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-print-frill-collar-top/s0009879/type-s/

Then in H&M their small maternity range was a bit like a jumble sale, but I tried on one shirt and it was nice, but very big for this stage, but I'll grow into it. It's white with black pokka dot with a !!!!! bow. It was a bit more reasonable at £20.

Tried Topshop and they had about 5 items of maternity in stock. Pumkin Patch and Peacocks had closed down. Mothercare had about 10 items, not really suitable for work.

I was fed up by then, so went and had a latte and a massive tray bake before heading home. And the parking was £10!

We couldn't be bothered cooking by then so dropped DD off with my brother and his wife and kids and had an all you can eat Indian Buffet. It was lovely, but I can't move now!

Hi everyone, just stopping by quickly to say that Luke Wynn Preston was born on Friday 27 July at 7.51am weighing 6lbs 5oz.

He is absolutely gorgeous but the birth was quite traumatic; I was induced and it was very painful, plus I was due to have an epidural and by the time they put it in the baby was coming so I got none of the pain relief. We were in hospital til Saturday lunchtime as Luke's blood count was low.

He cries through the night at the moment but hoping this will change soon. At the moment I feel really guilty that I'm not breastfeeding (Luke hasn't taken to it) and am giving him formula milk instead. Anyone else doing this? Should I stop making myself feel bad?

Still feeling quite ropey after the birth but hopefully better soon. Congrats to Robyn and hope Clarissa you have your baby soon. Love to all xxx

    congratulations ! :j

Boys very typically mix up day and night when they are little, I found the best way to deal with it was to go with the flow :D sleep when he does (and ignore everything else) and dont make yourself feel bad about anything !

Congrats AMC. Sorry it wasn't how you planned.

My DD was a night owl for the first 10ish weeks. I just went with it and stayed up late with her and slept late with her. She cried when I tried to put her in her moses basket in a quiet darkish room. When I took her to the living room and put her in the bouncer and I watched TV, she was as happy as larry. Until she dropped off at about 2am. By 12 weeks she had developed a routine by herself and clearly wanted to be in her cot by 7.30pm.

Others might disagree, but I felt it was pointless to fight a newborn. When she was crying I was miserable, so I just went with the flow and it sorted itself out fairly soon. She now sleeps 7.30pm to 7.30am and is the happiest child. Loves her cot, so I don't think it did any long term damage!

I carried DD very, very low. Even very early on (25 weeks) people would comment on how low I was carrying and that I couldn't "drop" any lower towards the end like most people do.
