    Afternoon

No car booting for me, my parents came over earlier, they annoy me so much, I had to leave the room at one point or I would have lost it. They are the only thing that worry me about when baby girl is here, they just don't listen to what we say. The way she is with my cousins children drives me mad, she is obsessed with giving the children cake and sweets, even when they have said no she ignores them and makes it so the children can hear and the parents sound mean. There is no wonder I'm overweight after growing up with a 'you must eat' attitude.

We have spent 7 years trying to get it drilled into them how we want our dogs looked after and rules, but she said the other day that she has never listened and done as she thought as she had a dog 40 years ago!

It's no wonder I get stressed when they come over. Really dreading how they are going to be.

    Sorry,I'll stop moaning now.

My ex mother in law is like that drives me mad. I'm I dental so I'm big on no snacks and no squash between meals. I give strict instructions for bedtimes when she goes visit to try and
Minimize her routine disruption. Bu t they ignore it. They give her snacks, squash in her hand all day ad drinks directly before bed then wonder why she has an accident. And my exs partner puts nail polish on her and says its ok cos your mummy isn't here. I am very against make up and nail polish and provocative outfits on four year olds. My mum knows better. Lol. She knows my daughter will tell me so there is no use disobeying the rules lol
love you lots like jelly tots :o

rjh I can see why that's such a worry then, I hope you can work something out.

Gilly - I feel your frustration. They sound exactly like my Grandma. Every time we see her she takes over and fills my kids with sweets. She typically arrives 5 minutes before a meal and sneakily hands them a chocolate bar each, then can't figure out why they don't want dinner! I spent all the school holidays with her from 9 -14 years, and she fed me sugar on every meal and only allowed me to drink Lemonade. I now have only one tooth left that is healthy and without a filling. I'm just lucky she doesn't see my kids very often so can't cause too much damage.

oh that is so annoying. we will be giving strict instructions as both parties are guilty of giving snacks that are not allowed. my mum does it with mu nieces and gets them so high on crisps etc.. then my brother has to deal with it. she also does that with the dog and my younger bro goes mad when treats are sneaked in. hes such a fat dog now!lol. we will go mad if people give things behind my back. i always ask if its ok to give my nieces something. rjh try and not get stressed. xxx

The thing is she just doesn't get it. I just don't want baby girl to be bullied when she is older like I was fr being overweight at primary and secondary. I was never given the option of doing anything sporty because they weren't sporty. We both really want our daughter to have every opportunity to do the things she wants and to be able to be athletic and just have fun in what she does. I don't want her taking after me and not standing up for herself in what she wants and having the struggle with weight all her life.

An example. Mums aunt lived about 5 hours away so we didn't go that often. When we did go she always made steak and kidney pie, but always ate hers in the kitchen as we had driven a long way, anyhoo mum and dad hated it and made me eat three portions so the aunt thought they liked it, I was child and didn't know I had a choice and could have said no. It happened every time we went

My family aren't too bad with giving treats etc. A few family members have coeliacs so we all know the importance of not just giving them any old things as it can make them ill.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

gosh we have done or thought of nothing!! Should i be panicking?? we still have brother in law with us for the me, and i was telling DH that he cant be here long as he is in the baby room and DH said he is not that worried about the baby room as only a few things need doing. today DH is annioying me. he seems to be in his cleaning mode but he is moving things around and when i say something he has moved he ignores me. surely its my house too right? maybe i should let him and just move things another time. grrr

Did you want it to actually say nursery on it? We got this http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/bedtime-bear-collection-hanging-plaque-202081 as our theme is bears and neutral colours, creams etc as baby is a surprise. Can't remember if you know or if you are surprise?

Has anyone been to the Boots baby event? Have a load of vouchers from the new mailing but the offers don't seem as good this time round. I thought last time everything was 342? But this time there is just a selection. Will still manage to get useful bits like pads etc but had vouchers for the clothing which won't be as good value.
