  • finally caught up - was in donegal last week and had no internet at all so just caught up now

CL - Im in ni as well - lack of maternity clothes is awful - the mothercare at the abbeycentre had the best range i could find - other than that a few of the new look stores had a small range of things - so annoying as buying online isnt great when you dont know about what size you need :)

what hosp are you having your little one - im in antrim

  • Morning ladies! I've got heartburn so I'm awake :( I got tempted last last night to have a milkshake which I'd stopped doing close to bedtime as kept getting heartburn when I had one. So silly me being so greedy I guess lol.

AMC congrats on your little boy. Sorry it ended up so traumatic for you. Glad you're both safely home now though. I echo what others have said about feeding. Don't beat yourself up over it. As long as Luke is feeding well from somewhere that's what matters. If he didn't take from the breast there's no point you both getting stressed over it.

I haven't got one of the dark line things either, just tons of stretch marks :o lol.
Gillybean I'm getting quite scared really. I think it's more the fear of the unknown. If they said right you'll come in and this, this and this will happen it might be better, but there are so many variables. I'm under the consultant too and they're being very vague about things which is not helpful. I know they can't predict what might happen, especially as bubba was breech last week too. Less than 6 weeks to go here too and I'm finding it hard to mentally prepare. I've got a hypno birthing cd which I'm hoping I'll be able to use to learn some relaxing techniques. Haven't tried it though yet.
Katyliz I couldn't believe your car boot story! Seriously some people! Would she buy clothes with other people's poop on? Her poor children. I didn't wake up til ahem nearly midday so needless to say we didn't get to any carboot yday :( it's a shame as normally people are really helpful
Triangle sounds like you got great bargains! I'm hoping to try and get a few nice toys put away for bubba. He's due September so will be able to pit them away. New books are so expensive too so it's a cheap way to build up a nice library.
Rups I think you mentioned placenta. This may vary from area to area. Mine printed out a report with measurements etc to go in my notes and it had the position of the placenta on there. They didn't verbally tell me at the time, I didn't think to ask. I was more interested in other things. If you ask I'm sure they'll tell you.
RJH hope you've recovered from your trip out. sounds like you're daughter can occupy herself which is no bad thing. You've did something fun with her so no harm in her playing by herself while you have a little sleep. I worry also that maybe I won't realise that I'm in labour til I'm quite dAr along, I'll just play it down to BH and then a baby will pop out lol.
Door signs I've got the same as Bellola but we have similar theme. I've got a blank one I want to paint and baby's name on. But we're still not 100% on the name grrrr. Ikkle have you a pic of yours?
Sexymouse I think you're right to worry. It feels like a lot of people not jus our patents have ideas of how to bring up our baby. Things like "don't let him sleep in your bed, it'll cause you trouble" "make sure you teach him to speak properly not like someone out of Jeremy Kyle" or my favourite "when our children were little we.....enter some random outdated thing here" it does drive me mad  they've had their turn, now it's ours. It's hard not to tell them to zip it.
Aida some people say yes about the smell of bins, others say no. I've heard they can be ok, but when you go and empty them the smell is horrid. I think they're designed for a few weeks worth of nappies, but I think I'll be emptying it daily especially smelly ones, they'll be going straight outside I think!

    Jedi happy due date :j :j :j

Hope I've not missed anyone. I've got a busy day ahead. Lots of little jobs in the house. My 'aunt' is coming on Wednesday with her daughter, brother and uncle so have lots to do so broken it into very bite size things. Got rid of loads of excess furniture yday and got OH to move some heavier things. Hoping to catch a little more sleep now.

Wishing big labour vibes to the boldies, hope those we've not heard from are ok. And hugs to all that needs them xxx

LMM I've not got a picture at the mo as it's at my nans when I next go up I will take a pic though :)

Did you get the same CD I have? I've only listened to the short relaxation session so far, have enjoyed it though.

OH's mate has annoyed me. He's spent £12 on absolute crap like crisps and chocolate. Which is fine its his money, but I made a Sunday roast, I said I was going to do cauliflower & broccoli cheese, he said he didn't like cauli so I just did broccoli, he said he didn't like chicken on the bone but liked breast and skin so I gave him breast and skin OH had a leg and I picked a bit of meat off as the chicken is to make 3 meals for us. He left half the chicken and broccoli, left the skin and a few of his spuds because he was full then opened a pack of biscuits and ate them! Then at 11pm he threw a hissy fit and said he was gonna go home, OH had to be up at 4am for work and his mate kept him up till half 12.

Aida - I've heard good things about the bin. And as LMM has said I don't intend to leave nappies festering in there for long so will aim to empty daily. That's going upstairs in the nursery and if I'm downstairs changing I will just go out and put it straight in the outside bin.

I'm really not scared about giving birth - not at the minute anyway. I'm more scared about when it's here. How it will change me and OH, our relationship etc. I don't want to be grumpy and moan at him all the time, we have got a laid back, relaxed relationship so hopefully baby will slot in! And I'm scared about changing it, breastfeeding, worrying constantly whether something's wrong etc! Oh and at the mo my biggest worry is it coming early as my mum isn't back til 2 weeks before due date so it can't come til then!

No he's asleep on the sofa and I'm sat in the bedroom reading because if I go downstairs I might say something to him lol. He was going on about manners and respect last night when I was trying to get OH to come to bed, I thought bloody hell most people with manners let people know when they are coming to stay with them, ask them if it's ok and let them know how long they plan on being here for. It's catch22 though because I can see how happy my OH is seeing his friend. Have to say the experience has put me off going down to Trowbridge to meet the rest of OH's old friends and some of his family though. x

Congratulations AMC. Sorry it didn't go the way you hoped, but glad he is here safely :)

Ikkle he sounds more like a petulant child than an adult! I'd be fuming. Hope he leaves soon.

Line down the tummy - I'm quite dark anyway, and I always get one.

Way you carry - I had said throughout this pregnancy that I carry girls differently to boys, but then I got some pics out last week and I don't lol! I looked exactly the same with both my son and daughter as I do this time. Lowish bump, not noticeably pregnant from the back, and the only thing that really changes apart from the bump is that I get huge tree trunk legs.

Being scared - Weirdly I wasn't at all worried about giving birth first time round, but the experience was awful. Second time I was terrified, and it was fine. So this time I know it can go either way, and there is nothing I can do to control it. I'm just hoping for the best!

Room sign - I'm undecided so far. I've got to do my daughter's name as well, and she had picked out a cross stitch Little Miss sign, but I don't like the idea of it for both names. It'd be nicer if I could rope DH in. Unlike me he is very artistic, but he only likes to paint miniature wargame figures and draw manga. I'm trying to persuade him to do some kids artwork and the sign instead, but with how slow he is at getting on with anything I'll probably give up and do it myself!

I'm worried about that too, especially if it takes a while for my hips to recover and OH returning to work and trying to support me. I guess there's so many variables that are out of my control for the birth. I'm not too worried about the pain etc, I guess you can't really plan ahead. I held my bf's baby who's three weeks today on Friday. It's been so long since I held such a little one, I'd forgotten how small and floppy they are, will have to get some practice in quick!

Ikkle at least your OH is having fun. Does sound the friend is in his own world!

Well I've just been surprised with breakfast in bed:) daft cat wants to share. She doesn't like dairy lea, but still will insist on getting close and pawing my hand before deciding she doesn't like it.
