VBAC - vaginal birth after C-section
Inductions are (in my experience) incredibly painful. I think everyone who has posted above has had very bad experiences with vaginal deliveries and most ended up with emergency C-sections anyway. It is safer and easier for some women to avoid all the potential complications again and go straight for C-section.
They aren't a walk in the park by any means, but a shocking delivery is worse. I don't know anyone who lost a baby as a result of an elective C-section. I know many who lost them during long and difficult labours.
Thank you - that's something I will certainly think about if and when the time comes. Hospitals freak me out at the best of times. I am hoping the sweeps work - and I guess I will know more about the likelihood of them working when mw does her "thing" on Tuesday. But I also like to be armed with advice and knowledge - so thank you.
Of course....I am still hoping baby makes her own (quick-ish!) way before any intervention.....but I am also a realist!!!:(0 -

I second this completely.
To be fair, I know of a few people who've had great inductions, where the pessary took effect pretty quickly and they still got their water births - when hearing about them I thought "that's how inductions SHOULD be!"
However my experience was that the pessaries weren't that effective, I had to have my waters broken artificially, then was put on the drip, where painful contractions appeared almost out of nowhere (no gradual build up to get used to it!). When I got to 10cm dilated I pushed for an hour, baby got stuck, was taken to theatre for an instrument (forceps etc) delivery which also failed, then ended up with an emergency c-section.
So, knowing I'll be delivering early again - both because of my medical condition and because this time (all being well) I'm having twins - I really don't want to be (potentially) going through all that again. A nice, calm elective c-section sounds lovely compared to that!
I'm not trying to scaremonger, just sharing my experience and reasons for my decisions. Many people have fabulous natural labours and I'm very envious of them - just keep in mind all the options and make informed choices is about all I can recommend.0 -
Random question: is there such a thing as too much baby movement? The last few days its felt like they're doing the can-can in there! I much prefer this to stressing about not feeling movement, but just wondering if the big change is anything to be concerned about... I'm almost 22 weeks with twins.

Hi guys,
Been lurking loads not really posting think im 23 weeks now. Last pregnacy was a nightmare and I had no end of help from this fourm but this time around its all been smooth sailing up untill recent!
I've gone back to work, been working 3 weeks now and its a very stressfree but dull boring work..not sure if this is a contribing factor but anyway...
I've been getting serouisly depressed last few days, I have nothing to be depressed about!! Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?
I don't really know how/or want to explain this but my little boy bite me today quite hard and in this 'mood' I was in my first reaction/thought/instint I can't explain it (and I'll say this first I didnt actally do it!!) was to hit him...I'm not talking a gentle smack I actally just REALLY wanted to hurt him as he had done to me. I would never hit my child and he is only 9months so doesn't know any better!!! I don't know where it came from but after the inital shock of feeling that way I ended up crying for ages.
Can't wait to be back to normal againI think I'd rather have my sickness back from my 1st pregnacy then feel like that ever again.
People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Dida is now at the top of the list! My waters went at home but after 14 hours it was determined that a natural delivery was not possible. I bled a lot in theatre and am now on a high dependancy ward. I am ok but need looking after for a bit. Everyone at the hospital has been truly amazing.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
So pleased to hear your newsI hope you're being well looked after and are soon at home with your LO. The birth may not have gone exactly to plan, but it sounds as though you and little Toby managed to get the care you needed to have a safe delivery. Toby's such a beautiful name, and what a good birth weight

Massive congratulations Snozberry! Toby is one of my fave namesSo pleased your little one is here at last. Sorry to hear you are on high dependency but glad to hear your care is good and hope you make a full recovery very soon.
You next, Dida!
And then it's my turn :eek:0 -
Absolutely massive congratulations Snoz - I don't think many have waited that long on here recently for their little one to arrive. Hope you get on the mend soon x
Nothing still from me - I need someone else to join me at the top - mrsj28....you had better not beat me!!!!:(
Sweaty betty (I feel rude calling someone this!) - several of us posted a few weeks ago that our babies were on overdrive with their moments - I have never had so many movements (I call it "lumping around" as that's what it now feels like). The "uber-movements" started at about 35 weeks for me and baby is still doing it - I don't think its anything to worry about - especially as you have "double the trouble":D!!!

Much sympathy, I felt very similar in my last pregnancy and believe I was definitely depressed, although didn't talk to anyone about it. I do believe its the hormones and tiredness which can magnify any feelings. I'm not sure what to suggest to help as I didn't do anything in the end, but I wonder if I get the same feelings this time I might talk to the gp/midwife and see what they suggest. I know a friend with something similar saw a counsellor which may or may not help.
Good luck - you're not alone.0
