Had a horrible appointment this morning at the MW, I'm still really annoyed about it 2 hours later!

First of all, my clinic seem to take people on a first come, first served basis regardless of appointment times so I wasn't seen until 40 minutes after my appointment 'cause people are turning up mega early for thiers. What is the point in that?!

Then I had the most horrible midwife who dismissed all of my concerns about high blood sugar and measuring big and feeling symptoms early by saying "everyone's different". I understand that but it's not reassuring when she was obviously not listening to anything that I said. Measuring big (again!) but at a steady growth rate - which is reassuring I suppose.

Then she decided to completely disregard the fact I told her that it's really difficult to get blood from my arms and she should go straight to the hand - 3 jabs later, after hitting a tendon (AWCH!) she decided she'd just take it from my hand. IMAGINE!

I know I shouldn't moan 'cause she didn't do anything THAT bad but I just feel so awful after my appointment :(

Awww...sorry to hear that - I honestly don't know why some mw's go into their jobs - surely you have to have the ability to get on with people if you are dealing with pregnant women on a daily basis? I know I would be disciplined quite severely if I treated people where I work in a disrespectful manner.

I burst into tears after one of my mw appointments - and it made me so angry, I rang up and asked never to see a particular mw again - and I never have (both the others have been wonderful!). So worth considering as I was absolutely dreading my next mw appointment until I knew I wasn't going to see HER again.

Yay, so glad to hear it. Feel free to pop in here anytime, or I'll see you on the other side eventually!! :)

I'm tempted not to ask for her again but it seems to be that you just get who picks up your file (in the order of where it is in the pile not in terms of appointments ) so I'll wait and see. If she's awful again I will request not see her.

I think I must have completely lost it 'cause I've just bought OH 2 tickets for Bruce Springsteen in a fortnight. I'm not going - he plays for like 4 hours and it's standing! - but I'm not sure what to do. I wanted to surprise OH with the tickets when we were on holiday but the concert is the day after we're back so I'd really have to find someone to go with him - so do I just tell him now and let him find someone himself?

back from scan, running hour and a half late at the hospital and the waiting room was soooo hot!

Anyway, all is perfect however I appear to be cooking him a little too well, estimated weight 6lb12 and the biggest weight gain he has had in the past 4 weeks, still within normal range for weeks tho.

Even better, have been discharged from consultant as everything is perfect so just under community mw care now which is great, see her on Wednesday to write my birth plan

Been advised to have a stretch and sweep at 39 weeks to get things moving so that I don't go over - has anyone else been advised this? As I thought you only had a SS if overdue?

Congrats Mogwai... Love the name, I want an unusual name for my little bean, as my name is unusual. The OH seems ok with this, but thats only beacuse I am allowing him to pick some names.. only one so far!!! I also love bringing up the surname thing... my arguements are very complelling for the bean to have my surname, which he cant beat!!!

Well spent a couple of hours at the hospital this morning having my glucose test, what fun that was, why give you a time, if you got to wait 50 mins!!! Had my midwife appointment on Monday, she seemed very nice, gave me my Mat b1!!! When I got home realised she had not signed it... arrgghh... so going to have to try and get it signed on monday somehow!!! Got my parent craft classes booked, have to phone back about the breast feeding group, as I will be *hopefully* be in Italy for the July group. They also do Aqua Natal classes so may give them a go, but they are at 8pm and I am usually no good for nothing at time of night!!!

    Congratulations Mogwai!

I'm not expecting too much from the HV here - with youngest she turned up a couple of times and then I got a letter saying she was off on a career break and someone else would be assigned to us, but we were never told who and never heard from them again! There was no assessments of growth or development (now, I have to say I wasn't concerned) until I took her for her pre school jabs and asked for her to be seen by a HV, I was told that the HV in my GP surgery didn't cover my address and the HV would be based in another health centre!!! I told them either they assess her or she didn't get assessed so they saw her!

Hello! Sorry you had a rubbish time this morning Claree! Glad everything is looking great Nikki! :)Welsh_cosmic: The surname thing is tricky isn't it! My sis had her first when she was really young and he has her name, then she had another with her current partner and she has his name so they are a half and half family - Mum and Son with the same name and Dad and Daughter with the same name :rotfl:I guess if they get married my sis and my nephew could decide if they want to change their name to her partner's surname...

I have parentcraft tonight - I missed last week (our first week) because I got the time wrong :o I hope I don't get a row! :rotfl:Cannot be bothered as I usually need to just crash out after work, but I guess I'll just have to suck it up!
