 What? But you wouldn't have their arms covered anyway as you are only supposed to put the blankets up to their tummy's anyway. A sleep suit and light tog grobag would be fine in summer. Don't know why your NCT leader would have said that.!
She also recommended putting baby on its side (as well as their backs) to sleep despite the latest recommendation to put them on their backs as it was causing a lot of flat headed babies. She said that it is only in recent years that babies have been put on their backs - and the drop in SIDS could also be attributed to less people smoking etc...
I think the arm thing has come about from thinking about putting baby on its side for some of the time - I won't smoother it with sheets over its arms!!!!:rotfl:
With the gro bags - I was thinking that as they are quilted I would have to wash them more frequently whereas with sheets and blankets - you can just take the manky poo/sick covered article off and wash that on its own which would be a lot less effort as it would be thinner? (and easier to dry??). Also I wouldn't have to keep buying a larger size with blankets and sheets???
Oooohh.....decisions about bedding is doing my head in!0 -
I haven't seen any codes coming through on my parenting club emails, but there seems to be loads of them on offer at the moment:

Don't know if that's any use...
Thanks, they usually send them in mailshots, I don't get them online either, but because my bubs is bigger the vouchers tend to be different. Thank you anywayThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Grobags can be picked up cheaply at TK Maxx, usually last seasons or similar. We've only just outgrown our 0-6m ones at 16 months. They dry quite quickly I'd say, few hours on the radiator or half a day on the airer. We had 2 and found that enough. Muslin/flannel under there head and it should catch any dribbles, as we only use the bags at night. I would take it off to feed at night too, while changing his bum so any sickness would usually be on me.
They re-sell on well too. I really wasn't keen to begin with, but I have 3 drawers of unused blankets when I discovered how fabulous they were :jThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Thank you - I will try and get to a TKMaxx but I'm due next week so it might be an afterbirth purchase - I will see how I get on with the one that I do have. What do you use during the day?0 -
I don't use anything during the day, when he was little he tended to nap in my arms (didn't plan on that one
) or in the pram. If he did nap in his crib, it was in the living room, so I used a blanket and kept an eye on him, which I couldn't do at night as I was trying to sleep at least. During the day now he doesn't have anything, he's a bit wild and I think he'd have the blanket over his head

Hmmmm, I've had a quick look back through my emails, but I can't see it. I don't think I kept the last one I got through the post so it may have been in there. Sorry I can't help!0 -
Gillyx - try this code: PCPACSOPM3 (I think its what I used when I got my bargain Zezu!)
I have just had a phonecall from a health visitor - she wants to visit tomorrow - but seemed really pushy about it. It was like it was a given right - I agreed but afterwards I thought it was a bit rude to give such short notice. She said she wanted to do an antenatal check (I would rather my mw did this!) and also go through things with me.
I knew they did these things after baby is born - but beforehand??? I didn't really appreciate her rather pushy attitude - anyone else had one? Do I have to let health visitors into my home - or can I just request them if I feel the need???
I feel like both me and my home are being "inspected" tomorrow!:(
Sorry for hogging the thread today - I will try and be quieter tomorrow!0 -
I would have told her that it wasn't convenient as I had a (made up) appointment. Pushy people really get my back up! I haven't had a HV ring me. Maybe its because you want a home birth but either way I'm sure that you can tell them to jog on.0

Hi there - lurking over from the earlier thread. I'm not sure what the benefit is of the health visitor coming over before the baby arrives, and it would certainly annoy me if she was pushy about it.
Personally I'd either phone and say it was no longer convenient, or not answer the door/go out if I didn't want to see them. But that's just me0
