Nutshell, my midwife mentioned that offices/HR depts lose them all the time so it's best to take a copy/scan. If you've already done this (and still got it!) they should be able to use that rather then the original. My Debt Free Diary

Hi Nutshell,
From this ref http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/matb1-guidance.pdf
After a maternity certificate has been issued to a woman, no further maternity certificate based on the same examination can be issued other than a maternity certificate which is a replacement of an original which has been lost or mislaid in this case it must be clearly marked “duplicate”.
Just to add - im a retired midwife (on ill health grounds) but was not aware that I could offer a replacement so point your midwife to the reference if she is not sureNutshell, my midwife mentioned that offices/HR depts lose them all the time so it's best to take a copy/scan. Thanks both. I'll see if payroll will accept the scan, if not I will print guidance and take with me tomorrow.0 -
Just got a really annoying email from my college asking for proof of my qualification for my course next year. Proof which I don't yet have because the SQA only issue certificates in August. I am not waiting another year to do a course 'cause of this - it's the same college I did the qualification they're asking for proof of through! Argh.

Hmmmm.....I am just trying to make up my cotbed (have already made up the moses basket so that is fine - but I wanted to get baby used to cotbed during the day as well as the moses basket so am planning on interchanging them)......BUT I have realised I don't know what to do when it comes to the cotbed!!! (I also don't have the proper bedding for a cotbed as everything I have bought is pram or moses basket size - apart from fitted cotbed sheets!).
So how do you dress a cotbed for a baby?
I was thinking that as well as fitted sheets and a waterproof mattress cover, I will need flat cotbed sheets and cellular cotbed blankets (or do I use a fleece blanket??) - is this right??? (I know not to use a duvet). I did buy one of these http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_92171_10001 instead of a cot bumper as I have heard cot bumpers can be a little dodgy???
What have others got? What will the baby need in a cotbed in the summer vs the winter?
A little late but just realised how clueless I am!:o Thank you!0 -

Oooooh thank you for the link! We will get those.
We have bought tog appropriate gro bags for the autumn/winter/summer in neutral (white), so they will do for the next one too (don't tell OH I'm plotting a second). So the baby has a mattress, cot sheet, bumper things and it's gro bag. The company said there is no need for extra cellular blankets unless it's extremely cold.
However, I cannot wait to buy the very cute cot bedding once it's too big for gro bags! I'm tempted to buy it in advance to match the room.If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

No probs about the airwrap - I was going to get some lovely cute cot bumpers until I read about how they can increase risks etc (but it seems everything can from what I have found!!!).
I have been given a gro bag as a present but I have in the back of my mind what my NCT leader said to me - she asked us all whether we liked having our arms uncovered during the night whilst sleeping (which I don't!) - so whilst I would use it with a long sleeve babygro - I thought a blanket and sheet would be more flexible especially during the day? (also I didn't want to be constantly washing grobags!!!). Its so confusing about what's best isn't it!
Can you use fleece blankets on a new born's cot?
I am looking at Tescos baby bedding - just in case anyone is interested its all 3 for 2 at the moment!0 -
I think if you are not using a grobag then a mattress protector, fitted sheet and then flat sheet tucked in tight-ish and a cellular blanket is what you need. I think you are supposed to layer them up so that if baby is warm or cold you can easily add or take layers away. I think cellular blankets are advised rather than fleece ones because they have holes so even if baby did manage to get them over it's face it can still breathe.
We have gone for a bedside crib so it's bigger than a moses basket, but smaller than a cot. I have grobags, but will be getting blankets etc too in case he is small as you can't use most grobags until they are above 8lbs. Cellular blankets are also handy for an extra layer in the pram if it's chilly! Probably in the summer you'll be fine with just a flat sheet or a thin blanket (or nothing at all if it's really warm in your house) and in the winter you'll want to layer it up (if you aren't going for grobags). Hope that helps / makes sense!0 -

 What? But you wouldn't have their arms covered anyway as you are only supposed to put the blankets up to their tummy's anyway. A sleep suit and light tog grobag would be fine in summer. Don't know why your NCT leader would have said that. Grobags can be better than blankets you see becuase they actually keep their chest/core warm as opposed to blankets which as I said should only ever be up as far as their tummy...
You would need to wash the sheets and blankets just as much as the grobags so I don't think it would cause an increase in washing...But I agree, the flexibility of taking/adding layers seems sensible as well. Decisions, decisions! Lol!0 -
Hello, long time user of this thread back in 2012, just wondering if anyone has the online codes for the Boots parenting club for money off prams? Would love it if possible?
R.e the Grobags, we love them here, I think they can be used from 9lbs. They're a compromise between blankets and swaddling. I've never used blankets as I'm far too paranoid he'd manage to wriggle under them and suffocate himselfStill using them at 16m too x
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I haven't seen any codes coming through on my parenting club emails, but there seems to be loads of them on offer at the moment:

Don't know if that's any use...0
