Oh yeah, I'm planning on not telling anyone either. I remember what it was like when my Sis was induced and I fretted the whole time from when she went in until I heard that baby had arrived. I wouldn't want everyone worrying - it may take AGES! and as you say, I wouldn't want folk annoying me and OH with texts and calls!

Not overly helpful at all - but I'm sure they would let you know if there was anything to worry about so I would take it as a sign that everything is ok :)

My friend had her baby yesterday, Alicja (ah-leet-zee-ah) :) I'm so jealous lol, I wish mine was here!

We've provisionally decided on a name; Eil!s Ma!re Doherty, or Elizabeth Mary in English!

Missy I'm sorry you've had such a crappy day, hopefully your baby will decide to come of it's own accord asap!

Finally managed to log on to see if lazywife has had her baby yet - and Congratulations!! Love the name! If Abi had been a boy, that is the name we'd chosen.

    Congratulations too to Highlandlass!

My labour was very short really and nothing at all as planned; started at 9:30am, phoned DH to come home at 11, got to hospital at 11:30am and admitted to triage. We went round to delivery at 12:30, waters went at 13:30 and they took a decision for an emergency section at quarter to 14 with Abi being delivered at 14:25.
We stayed in 2 nights, and it was such a relief to get home on the Sunday evening. I'm settling into motherhood; it is still a little unbelievable to be honest and I find myself staring at her.
DH has been home with me last week and this week, and I'd not have coped without him. Slowly I'm starting to do a little more and getting into something of a routine.

I wish you ladies all the best for the remainder of your pregnancies. I'll likely still lurk and read for a while, but seem not to have the time I used to anymore

    take care,
    Saf xx

Everyone's v quiet tonight, hope you're all resting and being looked after. Just out the shower, it's amazing how such normal every day tasks can be difficult. Stepping out of the bath is pretty hard at the moment! Does anyone else feel like, in these last few weeks, that they need to try and do something every day so that you don't sit and think about the time left and the impending labour? Im trying my best to fill each day with things although I'll Have run out of things to do by Saturday, so need to have a rethink!

Ohh resting and being looked after sounds fun, just me and ds here tonight and he was being very naughty for bed time. Dh at work again was only home for about three hours today. I'm already feeling that way missy, I've still got eleven weeks to go! Was measuring slightly over at midwife appointment today but baby is led diagonally, so think that might well be why!

    Hi all,

Just to let you know we are still around, 35+1 today so no long now, EDDdate was the 11th June but might not be that much longer dependingupon the next couple of days!

Long story, but essentially the wife has been having to go for weekly checksdue to low PAPP-A result at 12 weeks with a warning of a small baby, or notgetting past 28w.

Other than that, everything seemed to be going ok until she had a glucosetolerance test. .1 over (not sure what mark) and she was diagnosed withgestational diabetes. In my opinion it should have triggered a re-testhowever on the other side of the coin it’s assisted in her eating habits andgenerally improved quantity over time and less crap. This led to themtelling us that baby might end up being too large! A "tapemeasure" size was done and indeed indicated that he was larger than heshould be... little did we know that this turned out to be utter BS.

A couple of weeks later during an appointment she went for a ultrasound scanwhich reported that "baby was not growing" and was measuring on thebottom centile line. This freaked the wife out completely and I amincredibly narked off that they told her this information as they told her thatbaby was not growing/not quick enough just of ONE scan. How can theyassume that with no other measurements on the chart I don't know. Bloodflow through the placenta seemed fine and movement/heart rate of little one wasall perfect.

Over the next 2 scans, measurements were still on the bottom centile lineBUT showed "normal" growth, just measuring on the smaller side ofthings.

Over the last 10w, they have been concerned about her blood pressure. Usually quite high but it comes down over the period of an hour or so... whitecoat syndrome maybe. However during a home visit, the midwife noticedthat the wrong sized cuff was used which instantly solved the high bloodpressure issue. Or so we thought....

She then got a cold which threw her off her feet for a few days a couple ofweeks ago, really nasty thing and she could not keep anything down for a coupleof days. Again concerned I rushed her to the hospital where theymonitored her for an hour - baby decided he wanted to wake up from his lie inand appeared to be happy. Protein started to show up in her urine testsand with her legs swelling, MW were concerned about preeclampsia. Bloodpressure was normal however and we were sent home.

Fast forward yesterday, after a glorious weekend in the sun, she went to herusual Tuesday appointment where she measured 3+ for protein, had headache, swelling and blood pressure which was up and down like a yoyo so bloods weretaken to be checked. As the results would take several hours to come back, she was sent on her merry way for a while but asked to come back in the morning(this morning) for blood pressure monitoring in the day unit. AsWednesday was meant to be her last day she explained to the boss what was goingon and managed to drag it forward a day... and good job too!

She returned today and blood pressure was again very high, but also droppingquite low and the blood work that came back as very concerning with 3 out of 4tests coming back as high (unsure what results, but kidney/liver problems weresuggested). They have decided to keep her in until Friday morning at theearliest to keep a constant eye on her. Blood pressure monitoring everyhour, medication to help control the blood pressure problems and as they arenot quite sure what's going on, they have injected her with a steroid to assistlittle one's lungs in case they are forced to intervene and deliver early - asearly as this weekend depending upon results over the next 24hours! Iknow she has had issues later in pregnancy and early delivery was always apossibility, and they would induce at 40w due to diabetes if she gets that farwithout hiccups, but I was hoping for her to get to or past 36w at least!

One thing that sticks in my head with all this, she managed not to drinkenough over the weekend and became quite de-hydrated so hopefully that is allit is, a server case of dehydration causing all of the issues! At least she is in the right place, beingmonitored and precautions are being taken so if the worst case scenario does occurand little one is delivered early, he is being given every chance at pullingthrough it without any major issues.

So yeah, been quite a bumpy pregnancy overall, mostly spoilt by doctorsgiving her information too straight to the point rather than sugar coating it alittle, and now the “!!!!!! is going to happen over the next couple of days”

Wow Splank, sounds like it's been one thing after another! You poor pair! Bet you can't wait for the pregnancy to be over and your baby to be here. Like us all of course, but it does sound like you guys have been through the mill.
Missy how you doing without OH? I defo am not spending enough time sat around-evident from my swollen feet! Also starting to inwardly panic more-- what if my baby comes early?--haven't done my hospital bag, washed any baby clothes, our house is not ready to move into, my old room at my Mum's is like a baby shop warehouse, everything still in boxes waiting to be moved to the house OH is still renovating for us, if it comes early I will just have to get the moses basket out and bring him/her home to our teeny tiny, full up-no baby gated-1 bed flat!!!!!!!!!
Also panicking about actual labour, I know it's going to hurt, but how much and how will I cope! OMG I am losing it :(
Starting to feel really heavy and preggo now, put on about 1st 10 which doesn't bother me but it's just a lot extra for my 4ft11 normally 8st frame to be lugging around.
Wow, I am sorry for the outburst!Ignore me please!

Just one more thing- OH doesn't like any of my boys names and i still don't have a change bag!!!!!

Oh splank, poor you and OH, really sounds like you've been through it but like you say she's in the right place should they need to intervene.

Lol dippy, you sound like me with all your worrying! But don't worry, everything will be fine. You'll make the most of whatever situation your given I'm sure, and as long as baby is fed, changed and has somewhere to sleep, it won't mind.

Saying that though, lol, I'm still freaking out at not having a m0ses basket, I want one for the living room, so that I can hopefully put baby down when she's asleep and play with Roo. The argoos one is still out of stock, OH has found a really lovely one but its £60 with delivery.... Which is twice what I wanted to spend, and I'm a bit worried she might not take to it and it's money wasted. Thought about a second hand one, but I'd need to buy a mattress anyway, and I have a second hand one already, and it's an odd size so can't get a mattress to fit abs the handles are starting to frey, so can't really use that.

Feel really tired this morning, goodness knows why, I was asleep by 10.30 and didn't even get up for a wee!

Off to see my friend and her little boy this morning. Which will be nice. Gets me out of the house, then I might come home and sort through Roos toys and tidy up the lounge, there's just toys and bits everywhere. Can't wait for OH to come home so we can eBay some big stuff that's taking up all the room and were getting a sk!p to get rid of the rest of the stuff we don't need. Although this probably should have been done at an earlier date but never mind.

Well I'm officially 38 weeks today, don't feel like I'm going to give birth any time soon, which is good with OH not back until next Friday. Anyone else at this late stage worrying about their waters going at random inconvenient moments?? Like round t£scos or at work! When mine went last time, I was at home fortunately, but it was just like having a wee I couldn't stop! Very odd!

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, hope you're all ok.
