    Morning everyone!

Huge congratulations to Highlandlass and Lazywife!

I haven't been on for a while because I've been a moany, hormonal mess - after having tonsilitis and chest infection I've now developed sciatica which is delightful, it feels like someone has been up all night punching my left butt cheek (I'm becoming very good at finding various places in work to hide and rub it!) Am 27+2 weeks now and due to be induced at 38 weeks but I think I'm in for a very long 11 weeks, am supposed to be working up to 34 weeks but if this keeps up I really can't see me lasting that long at all (I'm a nurse so plenty of walking and very active in work) My girls have been very worried about me, on Saturday morning my youngest, who is 7, brought me breakfast in bed so I didn't have to get up for a while! Awwwwww!

Wriggler is bouncing away like crazy in there, the girls put the remote control on my tummy last week and were delighted to see it moving! Have to admit my 7 yo is much more excited about baby coming than 10 yo - she seems fairly unfussed by it all!

My mum has announced she wants me to ask if she can come to the birth - she brought it up by saying she had been watching One Born Every Minute and she noticed they had 2 and 3 people in the delivery suite. I replied 'Oh, that's my idea of hell, I prefer it just me and DH.' So shefollower up with "I'd love to see it, at your next appointment you have to ask if they let in more than one person so I can come in" Despite telling my girls they'll be staying with her while I'm in hospital! She has already told my sister she's coming over to stay before the birth and wants to be at the delivery as well!!!!

Ok had scan, was rubbish. Didn't get to see anything just a jumble of fuzzy body parts. Scan lady was really abrupt and arsey and just said, you're in the average range and that was it. Got an hour before my midwife appt but can't really go home as think MIL has taken Roo out and locked me out. Am currently in tesco car park.

Don't really know how to feel. I'm happy I'm not having a giant baby. But it doesn't put my mind all that much at rest as I'm still measuring big as per the midwife, and the reason I thought I was finding this last couple of weeks so very hard was because I was carrying a large baby, and I guess I was living in hope she'd come early too. But everything is just business as usual now......

Oh missy, its good they don't think its a massive baby, but don't think they can tell to much, I was sent for scans both previous pregnancies because they were adamant they were very small, dd was 8lb 7oz and ds was 8lb 4oz so not that little! I feel massive with this pregnancy and I'm sure I will be measuring well over, not daring to get on the scales, I will only have 18 months between this one and ds, same as you, maybe its just stomach muscles aren't so strong, or is that wishful thinking. Sorry she was rude and abrupt they don't seem to understand the worry, and the way they deal with us doesn't help, what's your midwife like? Is it worth having a chat with her about it?

Girlzmum, I have to agree about not wanting a room full, think its quite a special moment for yourself and Dh, though I'm sure my mum would jump at the chance to come. She is set to be in charge of dd, ds and the dog, which she is very happy with too as she knows its what I need and want so will keep my stress levels down and lessen the chance of any heart related complications. It's an awkward one as she's specifically asked you though, do you have any one else to have your dds, if you decided to let her come? Or would she be happy to bring the girls to you as soon as you are ready?

That is so sweet of your littlest by the way, may have to drop some breakfast in bed hints!!

Hey Sam, bless you, thank you for your lovely long reply. Just had a look on line to convert the g to lbs and I think it said its about 6lb 8??!!!! Which is rather confusing as the midwife said last time she definitely feels like atleast a 9lber????? So who's right. Right well off to see the midwife now and see what she has to say this time.

Your welcome :o! Probably neither of them!! I think its strange they can 'feel' a weight when you think about all that's in there its not just baby, I would have thought the scan measurements would be closer as they are actually measuring baby, but I think they get that wrong too! All causes worry that you don't need, hope midwife is helpful

Yikes! There's no way I want anyone other than OH in there with me. I am doing Natal Hypnotherapy and they recommend as little people in there as possible - it all to do with minimising the tension that can cause problems with dilation etc. e.g. they ask if you think you could go for a poo with a load of folk watching you? Nope. So why would it be any different for birth seen as your cervix is essentially a sphincter muscle too. It made a lot of sense to me so I will be having just OH and trying to keep medical staff / intervention to a minimum.

It must be difficult seen as she has asked you, but I would explain to her that you really need her support, but not in the delivery room, with looking after the girls so that you can have a calm environment at home to try to relax and get into the zone for the birth. Just let her know that you understand that she would like to see it, but you feel that you would not be able to birth effectively in that situation. You need to do what you feel is right for you to have the best birth possible!

My MIL wanted to be thier for mine!! I didnt want my mum in thier before hand but she dropped me off and the plan was to stay abit whilst I got settled in...my labour happened pretty quick (under 3hrs from when I got to hospital) so she ended up just staying with me as I wouldnt basicly let go of her hand !!

My hospital...although I do think this is a general rule but I might be wrong? only let you have 2 people with you but anyway luckily I got around the MIL by saying that I wanted to put my mum down (she didnt have to know I only wanted her thier at the beginning lol)

    No hurt feelings :-)
People don't know what they want until you show them.

God if I let all the family members that wanted to come in with me for my labour, I'd have the whole family in there! I just had OH in with me and we didn't even tell anyone I was in labour as I couldn't be dealing with the texts and worrying!!!

Saw a different midwife and she wasn't overly helpful. Basicly alls normal?! So I just wait now until something happens. Not seeing midwife again until I'm practically 40 weeks!!!! I'm hoping I'll have had the baby by then!
