Hi, I haven't been on here for ages (was on holiday and have been floored by a chest infection) but I saw this and thought I should share my experience.

There is a specific stage that it is infectious and I think it's before the rash appears, but I don't think you need to be in a massive rush. All they do for slapped cheek is monitor you a bit more carefully I think - there isn't any actuall 'treatment' so I would say you are fine to wait a few days.

My niece had slapped cheek a while ago and I had been in contact with her around the time she would have been infectious. I always say better safe than sorry so I got in touch with my GP as the midwifes don't man the phones on a Tuesday and that's the day I found out. The GP got me to pop down and get some blood taken to see if I had the virus or not - they said if it was negative they would get me back in a month to test again just to be on the safe side. However when I mentioned it to the midwife at my next appointment she was able to check back the records for the first set of bloods that I had taken at my booking appointment and see what my immunity was (I was immune so it meant I didn't have to go back to the GP for more bloods). So this may be something that your midwife can do very easily.

Sometimes the symptoms can be very mild in children so it is hard to tell whether it is slapped cheek or not (although the midwife said if you have it as an adult it is really bad - she'd had it herself and said it was awful! So you'll probably know if you've caught it)

I think if there is anything worrying you, you may as well just contact the GP or midwife just to put your mind at ease. I went the other week because I had a cold and cough - I would never normally bother just for a cold/flu type thing, but when you are pregnant you think differently because you have the baby to think about rather than yourself and I was glad I did because it turned out that I had a chest infection and needed antibiotics!

Thank you! I called ante natal today and they said the same - they'll call the lab to test my booking in blood sample then let me know. Fingers crossed

Hey amus, yes thats right.

Bu&&er Bu&&er, was going to order a new Moses basket last week from argoos but ummed and Ahhed over it and now it's out of stock everywhere!!!!! Was going to just buy a mattress originally, got the one we already have, but I can't seem to find the right size! I'm not over keen on it either, but don't really want to spend more than. £30 on a new one.....hmmmm will have to have a look. Times a bit short though that's the only thing!

Ooohh more babies are being born! Congratulations everyone!

My scan was ok. It was strange seeing him blink on the monitor and he has a full head of hair. I have to go back for another one when 38 weeks with the consultant this time. Baby is fine - nothing to worry about but we are both being monitored.

I am finding myself getting more emotional though. It was lovely seeing so many would be mummies being accompanied by their mums in the waiting room but it just hammered home that mine has died without ever knowing that she, just a few months after death, would be a Gran again thanks to me and not my sister. Mind you, I think that the shock of her too independent eldest daughter falling preggers would have seen her off anyway lol

Life is so fragile *le sigh*

Wow I can't believe you could see so much on the scan, looking forward to mine tomorrow, I'm sure you've said but why are you having late scans? Glad you and baby are ok too. I'm going to my scan on my own tomorrow, so I'm hoping it will all be ok, although she's been a lot quieter than normal today? Not sure why, and hsven't even had any Braxton hicks.... V unusual!

Oooh just changing the subject completely, those belvita yogurt biscuits are half price in tescos. The strawberry yogurt ones are gorgeous, thought us a good thing to carry around in handbags etc for those low sugar moments.... I'm going to put a couple of the mini packets in my hospital bag too in case of hungry moments.

Haven't done my assignment but, have managed to shave legs etc and even paint my toenails!! Can't believe I managed it after what we were saying earlier! Must have been having a rare flexible moment! OH forgot to get my summer clothes out before he left, so I've been living in winter dresses in this heat but I've just found a really nice stripey diesel summer ankle length t-shirt dress that OH got me for Christmas and it fits really well!! Wooo hooo, I actually have something to wear to the hospital tomorrow! silly how such little things can make you feel so much better.

Hi all, just joining this thread as I'm 25 weeks tomorrow. I've added myself to the list - hope I haven't managed to totally mess it up!

Missymoo - I have to crack out about 900 words tomorrow to have any chance of getting my final draft back to me on Friday to tidy up Sunday and hand in on Monday or Tuesday! :eek: I could finish it Thursday or Friday if I can't tomorrow but my gut says push on and get a draft looked at or you'll regret it! Hope I manage to sleep a little tonight but doubtful as wiggle bum is on one this evening, kicking like mad!

Morning yum yums and welcome.

Sparkles, the trouble I have is my assignment isn't actually due until my due date so I keep thinking I'm almost tempting fate by not doing it... But I won't pass the module at all if I don't get it done, so really need to get my !!!! in gear.

Roo is awake, saying hi ya and making car noises! Lovely! Mind you, much better than waking up to crying! Just wish it wasn't quite so early!!

Scan day today to check on giant baby, slightly nervous of what they might say especially as OH is away and I'm going on my own...but hopefully it'll be ok.

Good morning all. Thanks for the lists people (wouldn't know how to do it myself) but how on earth did I get to number 2 so soon??!! Now I'm scared.
Hope all goes well for you at the hospital this morning missymoo. I have an appointment on Friday if nothing has happened and there's no sign of that yet. Looks like I will be filling that little bottle again!!!
Weirdly I'm feeling less pregnant now than a few weeks ago. Sleeping soooo well and a lot more comfortable generally. I suspect baby has 'dropped down' but I'm not feeling any pressure down below yet. Oh well, we'll see. I'll be begging to be induced by Friday.
