I'm the same as you and I'm finding it gross. I'm 34+1 and my little one loves my ribs.0 -

Congrats Helen!!!
The sonographer did ask us a couple of times 'If there was anything we wanted to ask?', we wanted to keep it surprise. While driving back to work an hour later, i had the thought that I am sure she said 'he's a wriggler'. In bed last night OH said he heard the same thing, I then had to explain why she kept asking the question the above question!!! Not taking this as 100% as it may or may not been a slip of the tongue, or she may have just said it instead of using 'it'. They said to watch out for bleeding!!! Internal scan.. whoppee...
My OH as supportive as ever said, they only said you couldn't have sex, I can!!!
Not even considered a home birth, the mess to clean up afterwards would involve me cleaning up, as OH definition of cleaning is a lot different to mine. Also we live in a terrace house which is tiny, but we are moving, but the house will be full of boxes and a mess!!! As its my first, I would rather be in the hospital.0 -

I've had that too - he's been given the look that that comment deserves and not much else :rotfl:

Congratulations Helen! So pleased for you
And excited to be moving up the list myself!!
Re: home birth - I was quite up for the idea, but DH wasn't keen, so we have agreed to go to the hospital which has a midwife-led unit only as a sort of compromise. I think if all goes well, and we do go on to have another child, then we might go for a home birth the next time.
Saffa hope you are not kept waiting too long...
Got a cot at the weekend, starting to feel quite organised (although the spare room is just looking like a store room at the moment), can't wait for maternity leave to start so I can get the cot up, and rearrange all the clutter in the spare room so it looks a bit more welcoming for a baby. There's not much space in the room as we are keeping the spare bed, but we do have room for a cot and chest of drawers for the baby's things.
I really want to get a nice chair for feeding the baby - not necessarily one of those big nursing glider chairs due to space, any recommendations of a good, comfortable, but small chair for feeding? I know a couple of people mentioned the Ikea chairs that bounce, but they are still a bit big I think, so was thinking about something like this:

Less than two weeks at work to go now, these last days are really dragging... Loving the sunshine though0 -
I'll definately check it out - thanks!!

Well spotted for half price. I think a trip to boots in is order at lunchtime :j0 -
Personally I would love a home birth and the midwives in my area are really keen to push the benefits of it which is nice. I don't like being away from home really and I think being away from the familiar would add to my stress, plus I really do not like hospitals in general (they are full of sick people! haha!)
However, I dont think I'd be confident enough for a home birth the first time. Luckily we have a midwife-led unit which is very homely and non-medicalised, but right next to the hospital wing should anything go wrong or medical intervention be needed.
It's a happy medium for those who don't want to be in a hospital environment but need the safety/ reassurance of medical professionals nearby should anything go wrong.
Depending how this one goes, I would def consider a home birth next time though0 -
I've sat in one of these: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S39805432/

As long as the chair is comfy, you'll be fine mrsj. We also didn't have room for a "proper" breastfeeding chair or one of those Ikea bouncy chairs when we had DS. I just used a wicker chair that we had in the conservatory. It was comfy and with a nice throw over it, it looked fine in the nursery. We still use it now for his bedtime stories :-) Though he's going to have to give it up for the new baby
I think I might make an appointment with my GP to see about some painkillers for my hips. Paracetamol doesn't even touch it, but I took a cocodamol yesterday (pinched from my Mum) and it was so much better - but the pharmacy won't sell cocodamol if you're pregnant as it's not recommended without medical advice.
No chance of a homebirth for me, it's medical ward all the way with my history of blood clots. I'm not sure I'd really fancy a homebirth though; my DH also has different (lower!) cleaning standards than me and I can just imagine constant "what you doing, Mummy?" from DS. The hospital was fine last time, the midwife who delivered DS was lovely. Post-natal ward wasn't so good, but that was down to them being woefully under-staffed, nothing to do with their attitude. This time I'm aiming to be out the door and on my way home asap. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0
