Random but is anyone considering home births?

I orignally said I would have it in hospital no matter what but the idea of having my baby and not having to go to and fro and having my DS around (obvouisly not in the room !! lol) basicly saves alot of stress and worry that comes with having a 2nd child...but bit worried about the neighbours and ofc if something goes wrong I would blame myself for not being in a hospital...

Midwife did say that they have done studies that show home births are the same 'risk' as being in a hospital though as they have all the equipment they need with them incase something goes wrong...?

Edit: Actally its not random at all!! We are on a pregnacy thread
People don't know what they want until you show them.

    Congrats Helen.x
Fingers crossed not long now Saffagal.

Sorry Kayalana not thinking home birth here. I think if you would have been MW led, whether you're at home or at hospital you'd be the same, so if it's easier? The only thing I would be hesitant on is if your LO is in the house and you do have to get rushed off (I guess if things don't go as should with home birth they'd get you to hospital pretty quickly) would that be more traumatic than you disappearing off and him being dispatched to a friends (or a friend coming to watch him)?

I feel like my bump has just got massive! Wouldn't have thought if would change that much in the last couple of weeks (39 weeks today) but suddenly is really getting in the way!

I'd never consider a home birth only because of the mess and it just doesn't appeal to me. With my first I started off MW led, but my DD has other ideas, she wasn't back to back, but she wasn't the right way round either so I struggled for hours and in the end needed an episiotomy (sp?) and Ventouse so ended up in consultant led.

I'm hoping this one takes a quicker and easier route out, fingers crossed!!

I wouldn't mind a home birth but there is no way that my OH would entertain the idea. He is such a worry wart! He wants baby to be born in a hospital just on the off chance that something goes wrong.

Thanks for the advice re slings pigpen, very helpful. Well I'm sitting in bed trying to work on my assignment that's due on Thursday, honestly I have no brain power left to be doing this. And I'm reading about issues teenagers face etc, which isn't really a nice subject! Just want to go to sleep :( have to see the midwife tomorrow for my glucose tolerance test results and see what happens next. No doubt she'll measure my bump and tell me I'm even more huge than last time.... Ho hum. Backs been a bit better today but still bad. Seriously can't see how I'm going to cope with another 4 weeks of this, saying it out loud just makes it seem longer :(
