Morning all!
I slept so well last night from just after midnight until gone 10still quite dozy though. It's boiling upstairs here already. I'm looking forward to our forecasted rainy weekend too
Twinklie good luck with the move. I'll warn you though by the time you come back you'll prob have moved lots up the listyour poor doggy too!
Emsbet if its not feeling too tight maybe leave it for now? Might be better this evening when hopefully it'll be cooler to tackle it? But hands in iced water then a bit of slimy soap, washing up liquid etc should be ok. Only wearing my engagement ring and just tried to take it off and I can'tOH was upset when I told him it may have to come off for a while. I did point out its better intake it off rather than it gets cut off.
Chrissy bet that was a shock! Although now you've had that boost to get ready.
Ironing I don't iron, end of. Might do OH's work shirts and did my work tops that's all!
Rups I think Ikkle and Diszie have said it well and to the point. You just need to crack on with it girl cos its gonna be a long nine months otherwise! As for the Doppler maybe in a few weeks after your 20 week scan? I know your mum works in midwifery somewhere but you are not medically trained to use that device. OH bought a (crap) monitor thing at 14weeks and we literally only heard the heartbeat a couple of weeks ago at 30 weeks. I cannot imagine you failing to find a heart beat on it for all those weeks without getting het up. I just humoured OH to be honest with it, but really I could feel bubba moving loads so I wasn't worried.
Facebook group Mishka kindly set this up. There was one attached to the newborn thread, but that has now closed for new members so Mishka has set up one for us. It's a secret group so nobody can search for it. Also unless you are friends with other members then they cannot see your profile and you can't see theirs. I know that is some people's worry. Some people find it easier to access facebook on phones and such like rather than the forum. Its still relatively new, but we're becoming more chatty on it. It's written on the daily list to PM Mishka, but now you can also PM me or Triangle with your MSE name and real life name and we can send you the link. Obviously your real name will be shared within the group when you post/join so really it's been set up for those who are active members of the forum. Some people share more than others about their real life's. I know some people prefer the anonymity of this forum. But just thought I'd share the group a bit for newer members
Got a busy day today. Got consultants this afternoon, followed by tesco order coming then our antenatal class tonight. Must write my questions down for that.
Sending big labour vibes to all needing them, hope you've all packed a fan or water spritzer spray! Hugs to everyone who needs them too.:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Hi guys, feels weird being on here but thougt I'd come and say hello and ask for some advice. Had my scan this morning and all seemed well. Heard (and saw) the heatbeat and 2 arms, 2 legs and a head! (Although sonographer laughed when I asked if it had legs yet because I couldn't see them so very kindly showed me different views of the baby so I could see them!)
She said the nuchal fold measurement was less than 2 and they see an indicator for Downs as 3+. I was all ready to tell people from today but DH has pointed out we don't know the results of the bloods yet. I'm not sure I can hang on for potentially another 2 weeks! He's said it's my decision.
I think (in fact I know) that if we had to make choices at this stage I'd definitely want close family and friends to know. The difficultly is that once the news is out, it's out and will spread like wildfire.
What do you guys think/what did you do?

Rups, I think a doppler is a very bad idea for you as if the doctors/midwives struggled to find it you'll battle too. I've only heard it once (at a friend's who is a midwife, the NHS midwives don't seem to do it here) and she found the hearbeat straight away but she had a proper machine for it (the ebay ones will be much worse quality) even though I have an anterior placenta as well (but she knew exactly where to put the thingy).
Once you start feeling movement it should be much better for you, hope it starts soon0 -
thanks ikkle :0) you guys are now doing what fluff used to do! hehe..
Hey sweetheart, I've not gone anywhere and can still tell you off if necessary.

We told after the scan...but then we were so in love with baby already by then that we knew we wouldn't abort a downs baby we would just have to prepare...plus they never tell you it will have downs...just give you the odds... would you see yourself aborting at 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 1,000 or 1 in 100 or 1 in 10 ???

When Rups said she wanted a doppler on the less than 12 weeks thread I almost fainted in despair

Rups I'm sure I was at least 22 weeks. And I tell it seemed everyone was feeling movement before me. There's a few ladies due on here around the same day and they seemed to be feeling things, and even real life pregnant friends. At first it seemed like feeling bubbles pop like once a day so took a while before I was convinced it was bubba and not wind! My midwife said if you've not felt anything by 24-25 weeks that's when they might get worried. Althought as others have said the position of the placenta can reduce the feeling of movements.
ZC hello! Glad all seemed well at the scan. To be honest I didn't mention anything at my scan as everything looked well. They didn't mention any measurement to me at the scan though. I don't know maybe you're extra worried about your baby having downs? Or at an increased risk? It wasn't something I told people they would check for and nobody really asked me about it. When the results came back low risk I think I told a couple of people, but the it's never really come up in conversation. I guess if it was high risk or like you say any decisions had to be made then I would have spoken about it to friends family. That's probably of no help at all.
