May be a touchy subject but has anyone had the issue of grandparents (to be) smoking?
My in-laws smoke about 20 a day, each. Their whole house smells of smoke, their clothes smell of smoke even thier passports smell of smoke (I took them one day to check them into flights online). If OH & I are in the house they'll go outside to smoke but we still come out stinking of it.
I really don't want to take a baby into that house. I know it might be selfish to say I don't want it going to its grandparents but I know they go outside when I'm there but how do I know they'll do that if they're babysitting?
Plus studies show that going outside is very little help anyway...
OH's family are the same. I took them the leaflets from the hospital saying they should not smoke around baby or hold it for an hour after having a cigarette.
My dads house is disgusting.. it is yellow and absolutely stinks so I simply do not take the children round there.. not that I have anything to do with him anyway really.
I don't have anyone babysit other than my older children and they come to my house rather than the children go to theirs. Their toys and things are here so they are happy to just plod off and play rather than wanting to look in every cupboard and drawerLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Depends on your relationship obviously, but I'd probably just put my foot down. 'Please don't smoke around the baby, or hold him/her for an hour after having a cigarette. Smoking by the back door and blowing it into the garden isn't good enough. If you can't agree to this, the baby's not coming round'.
If you don't do it right from the start, you'll find it increasingly difficult to object. Do you really want your baby returned to you smelling of second-hand smoke when you nuzzle its neck? Because it will. 40 fags a day is a lot.

Gizmodo I am also a little worried about a quick labour. My last one was 34minutes, luckily I was already in hospital under observation.
Um, wow, that's quick! Mine was 22 hours from start to finish. I was hoping it'd reduce to 12 hours or something! Ideally with a 5 minute pushing stage please. I pushed for an hour last time and that was quite knackering.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Carpets are at the top of my list. I love our old wooden floors, but they're not very practical or cosy for baby...especially when he starts crawling around!
We are now laying wooden floors as part of our house renovation - figured that we wouldn't want baby sick and wee on carpets!
Will pad out with some rugs - but I'm not a fan of carpets as they get so dirty!!! Baby will have to have knee pads!!!:D
How is everyone this lovely long weekend? I now have 2 weeks off and then another 6 weeks before I finish for a year! So not long....but I also see that I am edging up the list too - eeek!0 -

I only have another week left
six weeks left at work?! OMG! It only seems like yesterday when we both posted on the less than 12 week thread! Things are just going so fast! Our babies will be here before we know it0 -

Haha! I know - its scary! I am looking at ways of delaying birth at the moment as I want baby to be a week late due to working in normal job until 2 weeks beforehand and then extra job until due date! I want at least 1 week off work before baby gets here - I just so know its not gonna happen!!!:(
I have looked back at my 12 week thread postings and it seems like only yesterday and now I'm zooming my way through the due date list on here! When are you going on maternity leave?0 -
Still no baby. That is all.
Hope all is well this evening. xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Hi there - just popping over from one of the earlier boards to ask a quick question.
I'm thinking about taking a trip over the Mamas and Papas outlet in Huddersfield over the next week, but was wondering if any of you had been over recently and if it's worth a trip? I know it can be a bit hit and miss there sometimes.

I don't know about the outlet stores, but Mamas and Papas is always worth a visit - they do the best blankets"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
