I know :j This Sunday in the US. Cannot wait. But not sure how I will cope with one episode a week as the other two series I watched in one go.

I was reading the birth stories thread last night and you have no idea how much I want to have to be enduced or an arranged section. The idea of going into labour in the house and having to go to the hospital, be sent home, go back in etc scares the hell outta me.
Really? Are they scary birth stories then? I too had the same fears first time round of being sent home so I stayed at home as long as I could. I ended up being 8cm when I arrived! Kind of wish I'd gone a little earlier as the journey by car wasn't particularly pleasant :)

I'm more concerned about leaving it too late this time. I don't know how to judge it really. I didn't have regular contractions last time. I know it might all be different but the trend tends to be that your subsequent births are quicker.

Is there no one else planning a homebirth??? I was told nowadays 1 in 6 1st babies are homebirths! Am I mad for considering it???!!
Not mad no. I wanted one, but OH wouldn't let me. We agreed that my second would be a homebirth. That was the deal. Unfortunately I had a PPH last time that resulted in me being ill for 3 weeks and ending in a secondary PPH where they found out I had retained products. So now I'm told a homebirth is out....BUT...I wouldn't want one anyway now.

I think giving birth at home would be absolutely amazing and relaxing. But just bear in mind that the stats are something like 40% of first homebirths do require a transfer to hospital. At least that was the statistic when I was looking nearly 3 years ago.

Just do your research and make up your own mind. You know yourself. How would you handle it if things didn't go to plan? How does your partner feel about it?

I'm more freaked out about having to have a c-section. I've googled and read some horror stories where people have had a c-section because of having a cyst. I hope that's not the case :s Just wish I could have the consultant appt now to find out more about it.

Our most expensive nursery is £72 a day :| The cheapest being £65 a day. We live in Surrey. It's crazy really. I'm very fortunate in that OH works Saturdays and has Wednesdays off and also works one or 2 lates a week. So my mum has DD 2.5 days a week. She's willing to have two of them next year, but I'm hoping to get DD into nursery on the 'free' hours. I did change career and now work part time, term time so my mum gets a break and I get more time with my daughter which I missed so much when I originally went back to my 40 hour a week job.

I wouldn't want my mother looking after my child - goodness no - I believe if you have one - then its your responsibility - whether SAHM or paying for childcare. But having the support or even knowing that they will be there in an emergency or just to have a chat with when things aren't going to plan.... thats what I miss.

Exactly.. my mother is alive and lives close but I think I have only asked her 2 or 3 times to watch my children. Mine all know I am good for an emergency but I have enough of my own children so don't need theirs.. my mother doesn't even appear to be there when things are bad. :(

I currently work full time hours over 4 long days and DS goes to a childminder for those 4 days. I'm hoping my work will let me continue to do this when I go back after this baby is born - if not then it'll be borderline whether it's worth me going back to work even for 4 normal-length days if we're paying childcare for 2 kids for those 4 days. I want to go back to work as in my industry things change regularly and I think it'll be hard to get back into it if I take a couple of years off (until DS1 starts school)

My MW gave me a form to send off for my exemption card. Either way, she's the person you need to ask about it, Dippy.

I feel a lot better today, thanks for asking dippy. I'm still a bit annoyed that they couldn't have been more re-assuring but I swear I can feel tiny human again today and I couldn't feel it yesterday. OH thinks I overreacted but I honestly don't think I did!

Helen that sounds awful, I hope it fades soon - not long to go for you now though!

There is no such thing as overreacting when it comes to your baby Clare. I think if you have any worries you are best just to get them checked out :)

Sorry you are uncomfortable Helen :( at least the heartburn has been better!

I'm feeling pretty good today - just tired and really looking forward to the long weekend! I'm trying to save as much annual leave as I can for after my Mat. leave (I'm allowed to carry it over) to use towards going back part time (but still getting paid full time IYSWIM) so I've only had 1 day off since Xmas. I've worked out that I should have enough days to go back three days a week for about 4 months :)

I'm having just over a week off in a fortnight to go to the Canaries though! Cannot wait to relax and get some sun - our last holiday as a couple before the new arrival! My GP called yesterday to do my 'fit to fly' letter so I'll be able to pick that up next week.

Anyone else going abroad before the baby arrives?
  • We're going to Menorca in June when I will be about 32 weeks.

It's going to be about 40 degrees.

I'd love to go away somewhere and I have about £800 coming in next week (foster caring) but I've allocated it to so many things I don't know what the most sensible option for it is! I'm thinking possibly carpets.
