Clare, apparently in some areas you have to book baby in while you're still pregnant as they are so popular! I'm hoping to use family and a childminder so haven't looked!0

That's insane! I have no idea really when I'll be going back to work as I don't know when I'll stop for maternity - how scary :eek:My Debt Free Diary

My OH's cousin has her babys name down for the private nursery her daughter attends.. she was about 20 weeks pg when she put his name down and paid a retainer and thec baby is due in 2 weeks! If she goes back to work sooner or later she may be able to move the date.
It does seem common place for the more popular nurseries.. and if you wait there may actually not be a place.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Nursery round here is £1280 a month for my 6 month old
it isn't really worth me going back to work if I have to spend that out before getting anything back.

Holy God!!
I don't know what the hell we'll do if it is that much in our area. I'll have to have a look now. I really want to go back to workI quite enjoy my job and would be gutted if it wasn't even worth me going back. We can't survive on one income either so I really need to go back, but if it means I'd only come away with a few hundred a month after paying for childcare then it's hardly worth it. I'd rather work than be on any sort of benefits though. Dilema!

Exactly!
I'm at college now and continuing 2 nights per week next year as well so I'm hoping to go back to a higher paid job but if I came back here I'd have about £100 p/month after childcare, that'd barely pay my petrol here and back!My Debt Free Diary

Nursery fees are frightening! I have just telephoned one that has been recommended to me and it is (for part time hours) £96 a week and I only pay term time (free in the holidays but that is only because of my job).
I will be making an unannounced visit next week.0 -
Has anyone else had a bit of a problem at work?
Don't get me wrong, they're great about all aspects of my pregnancy - okay with me leaving early/calling in late for appoinments etc - but I seem to be given no work to do.
I only started this job in November so I'm very much still in training but I don't seem to be given any new customers or responsibilities - presumably 'cause they know I'm not staying...but I'm still here for another 4 months, I'm not sure if I can handle how boring this is!My Debt Free Diary
