That's rubbish! Is there anyone you feel like you can talk to about taking more on while you are able to?

I've been at my job for three years and have recently had a promotion. I have been as busy as always and have actually had to remind them that there are certain things I'd rather not do if possible because they just treat me the same as they always have e.g. I had to say I'd rather not travel a fair distance from where I live at over 7 months for a piece of work we are doing - mainly because I'll be big and tired, but also becuase if anything kicks off early (god forbid!) I'll be quite a distance away from my OH and the hospital.

Hopefully there is someone at your work that you can talk to about it...

Just had a little look at some nurseries in my area and it will definitely not be worth me going back to work full time. I think my work will be flexible...fingers crossed. If I can get it agreed to go back 3 days and try to get someone from our family to take the wee one for one day a week then it would mean I'd only have to pay for 2 days of nursery. That'll still be just under £400 a month in childcare...which means that almost half of my wages will go on childcare! Our work do the childcare voucher scheme so that will help a wee bit. I suppose I can make up for it when baby goes to school, but that is thinking way too far ahead! :rotfl:

I was planning on it, but now looking at the childcare costs it won't be possible. We can't afford for one of us to be at home full time. Hubby would gladly do it if I asked, but we need two incomes even if it does mean that half of mine will go on childcare - at least we will have the other half!

I imagine I'll be going back full time but it depends on how qualifications go - hopefully I can get out of this place for good!

I actually like the job when I'm doing stuff but I don't want to seem petty asking for more shipments to deal with incase they think I'm not happy doing all the little jobs that need done - fact is I could do both! - but my boss keeps going on about everyone being so busy but I ask every day if anyone needs help 'cause I have nothing to do - I was hoping he'd take the hint but he doesn't seem to be!

ETA: Anyone planning on a 3D/4D baby scan? There's a deal for it on groupon in Glasgow today and there's part of me going "OMG I WANT IT" and then a (slightly more rational) part going "Eh...why?"

This might seem very premature but has anyone looked into nursaries and costs? I don't wanna just call and ask about prices for a baby who's not even born yet but at the same time I don't want to fabricate a baby!

I have seen a nursery I like for £660 a month for a 4 day week (the other half only works a 4 day week!) - childminders seem to be cheaper though. Theres no large waiting lists in my area luckily - so will investigate 4-5 months before baby needs to go in. I want to work part time but I'm not sure I will be allowed.:(

They are supposed to be cutting down on the costs of childcare in 2015 bit late but might come in handy a bit later on....!

Is there no one else planning a homebirth??? I was told nowadays 1 in 6 1st babies are homebirths! Am I mad for considering it???!!

My mum died a few months before we found out about him and I just wish that that I had an elder influential female in my life (one who knows me inside out) to give me some guidance. My OH's mum lives a short distance away but it isn't the same. I keep telling myself that I am not the first to have a baby and that everything will be ok.

I feel exactly the same - just wish there was someone who could help in a way that other people have their mum to help them. Friends and relatives have offered to help but its not the same as having a mum around is it who will help you no matter x

Nursery fees are frightening! I have just telephoned one that has been recommended to me and it is (for part time hours) £96 a week and I only pay term time (free in the holidays but that is only because of my job).

Are you sure? I think around here you need to pay half price during school holidays - so even when baby isn't in nursery - you are still paying half price in order to keep your nursery place open for the rest of the year!!!!

For a full time private nursery place round where I live you are looking at £1600 a month.
