I'm having just over a week off in a fortnight to go to the Canaries though! Cannot wait to relax and get some sun - our last holiday as a couple before the new arrival! My GP called yesterday to do my 'fit to fly' letter so I'll be able to pick that up next week.
Anyone else going abroad before the baby arrives?
I had to do a double take cos i thought i had written that post!
Going to Canaries in 16days! Can't wait - last proper holiday for a long time! I will only be 16 weeks so not too bad
Does the GP have to do a fit to fly or can the midwife do it? How far along do you have to be to have one? I am not showing & doubt i will when i go - i just look like my fat old self :rotfl:0 -

I must be insane.
Oh, I am green with envy! I would love it if we could go away for one last child free jolly but alas, it isn't to be.
Please have a non-alcoholic cocktail for me whilst lazing by the pool0 -

Ooh Lovely! It all depends on how you handle the heat I suppose - I'm sure if you drink plenty of water and spend some time in the pool/shade it'll be all good!
It should be about 25 degrees in Fuerteventra which will be lovely - I'll be just under 28 weeks when we go out and just over when we fly back (hence the need for the doctor's letter).0 -

Ooh lovely! You shouldn't need one - check with your airline, but for most you only need one if you will be over 28 weeks. I'm under 28 weeks on the way out, but over on the way back so I got one just in case. If you are thinking about going away again later into your pregnancy then I'm pretty sure the midwife can do it - although I have heard of people saying that their midwife wouldn't for some reason so I just ended up going for the GP because it didn't need an appointment, she just chatted to me over the phone and is typing it up so I can go and collect whenever.0 -
Not Fuerteventura by any chance Nessie? If so I'll see you there! :rotfl:0

I'd love to go away somewhere and I have about £800 coming in next week (foster caring) but I've allocated it to so many things I don't know what the most sensible option for it is! I'm thinking possibly carpets.
Could you do carpets and a cheap getaway?
We are in the process of trying to remortgage our flat to free up some money for improvements. Carpets are at the top of my list. I love our old wooden floors, but they're not very practical or cosy for baby...especially when he starts crawling around!0 -
My midwife wouldn't write me a fit to fly letter - said it wasn't her job. I'll be 28 weeks when I go to Spain for a week in a couple of weeks - cannot wait
My GP is writing one the day before we go, apparently a very orange branded budget airline can be a bit of a stickler for the letters!

I hate our wooden floors :rotfl:
I'm not sure...I don't wanna use all the money. I think I'll pop to a carpet place this weekend that I've heard is cheaper than most so I'll see if they can do us a good deal. I just don't like the idea of having no savings ... ahh the joys of low wages!
OH is off to hamburg for a stag do in a few weeks so at least one of us is getting away! Hmph!My Debt Free Diary

It is so daft that some midwives won't do it! They should be the ones that know whether you are fit to fly or not. I haven't seen my GP since I was 6 weeks pregnant. She said 'Are you keeping well? How's your blood pressure? Any tummy Pain?' To which I replied 'Yes. Fine. No.' and then she said 'No problem I'll type it today and you can come and collect it next week.'
I could have been telling total lies, just because I wanted to go away! :rotfl:0 -

Puerto Rico - the Gran Canaria type! lol (i love joking with people about that! - like i could afford a ;holiday to the real puerto rico!)
Nice time of year to go though - low 20's & not dropping much in the evening
Enjoy yourself x0
