Good morning all and a happy Easter!
Congratulations SpiderWestCider, glad all went well (apart from the aftercare). Also to anyone else I have missed. How am I at 17 on the list already???
All ok here, just starting to get very uncomfortable, my stomach is not big enough! Not much longer now though. Just feeling a bit lost still. OH working away a lot so I'm feeling pretty neglected. No antenatal classes for me, no aquanatal available and my work colleagues seem to not bother at all. Tried to join a bumps and babies group a few weeks ago but didn't get a call back. Phoned back again to be told the waiting list is until September but the lady in charge would call me or email me - still nothing. I just give up now!
Does anyone please have any other ideas for me meeting other mums out there?
Beautiful weather here today so I think I'll get out for a walk to cheer myself up. Hope everyone has a lovely easter.

Due to be induced a week on Monday, can anyone who has been induced before let me know what it's like?should I ask for a sweep before that day?
Hope everyone is well
X
I was induced at 40+12 with my first. I don't know what its like in your area, but round here they offer you a sweep at 40+7 and book you in for induction the week after. Might be worth a phone call if your MW hasn't offered you one and you'd like one.
As for the actual induction it totally varies from person to person. I had the propess just before 11am and gave birth 4 hours later, friends had longer experiences, its a bit of the old how long is a piece of string scenario, like natural labour its a you don't know how its gonna pan out til it happens
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, its likely bubs will make an appearance before you need to think about any induction stuff!!
Hope all ladies and bumps are good0 -

Imagine 3 weeks of being pg in a hospital ward, having light bleeding regularly, one scary 2 day incident of having contractions at 28 weeks due to a heavy bleed and being nil by mouth for a day (and light meals only for one) in prep for a c-section. Facing another 7 weeks (if all goes well) in a hospital ward where obs are at 6.30 and women having contractions and new born babies are regular overnight room partners!
Hope that helps! W+J
I discharged myself after 2 nights because as sit bored in hospital I may as well be at home with my 2 year old who was crying because he missed me.. checking my temperature 3 times a day was not stopping the heavy bleeding nor was it going to prevent a preterm labour. I had scans when the bleeding got to a ridiculous level, I spent the night of my wedding in the hospital bleeding heavily, the following weekend I was in again and the weekend after that the baby arrived!!
I have also had 1 at 31 weeks when even the slightest physical exertion set of contractions.. I sat on the sofa from 17 weeks! Another born at 32 weeks had cardiac arrests at birth and a couple of hours later.
So maybe it has something to do with this one so far being pretty uneventful or that it is my 18th pregnancy bit either way.. I am in lots of pain and I am fed up of it already and potentially have another 20 weeks of it ahead.
Sometimes I just like a moan.. I am grateful for my healthy, living children but that doesn't mean I have you like the pain in my back & hips or the impaired kidney function.
I'm sure your OH will be fine.. if bored! I don't always feel hospital is the best place.. sitting and dwelling on what may or may not happen cannot be helpful.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Wow pigpen. Thats hardcore. As boring and nerve wracking as hospital is, I know our nerves couldnt handle 9-10 weeks of OH bleeding at home without the blood checks, regular meds and listening to babys heart beat every day. I guess having a 2 year old missing his mum would alter things though.
I was trying to help by putting things in perspective. It sounds like you have enough perspective, been there done that and probably wearing the t-shirt right now! Hope the pain is easing up a bit today.

My nearest NHS course was 14 miles away - not that I wanted to go to it anyway! But i joined an NCT one (which I have to travel a few miles foranyway) - and so far its proving very good (and very useful in helping me make informed decisions about labour and post-birth also) - and over double the hours that the NHS one was going to be (and fewer people so you get to know them better). All of the parents to be are the same sort of age and mindset also which helps. Have you searched the NCT website for a course?
Also - how about contacting your local library - they have baby groups or just pop in to your local childrens centre. Councils also run family learning baby groups - so perhaps sign up to one of them when baby arrives - type "family learning" and your county into Google.
Massive congratulations Spider!!!0 -
Thank you for the suggestions IHateDida. I already looked into the NCT but the nearest one to me would be 25 miles away!
I think I will look at my local library. I have googled different things online though and that bumps and babies group sounded perfect but by September I doubt it will be worth it. It's for none crawling babies only. I think my only option is to move!!! :-) X0 -
I have looked back at my 12 week thread postings and it seems like only yesterday and now I'm zooming my way through the due date list on here! When are you going on maternity leave?
Monday 20th May will be the start of my Mat leave. Not long left at all. I might have to start it a bit sooner though depending on the results of Tuesdays scan. You know, I am more nervous about that one than I was for my very first one.0 -

Have you tried the 'meet a mum' tab on netmums?? Now, I admit, I haven't clicked on it but I guess that it is worth a try. I need to make friends with mummies as well because the majority of my friends are child free (as I always thought that I would be lol) and the odd one with a child have teenage ones.0 -

Oooh! Good luck - will be thinking of you as thats the day of MW appointment (and no doubt I will get slapped wrists for not seeing my doc as she asked me to at 26 weeks!!! Ooops!).
Are you not tempted to go for the end of that week (placenta permitting and all that!) - so you could get the holiday in as part of your maternity leave??? I know I'm due a week later than you but thats what I have done! So even though I leave work on the 24th (they will pay me full pay for the week after also which is holiday!).
This is baby staying put and all that!;)
Tried a birthing ball at my antenatal class - for anyone in doubt - they are fab - very comfy! Just this minute bought one to use pre-birth and in labour!!!!0
