Hi all,
My OH and I are now 30 weeks gone in what feels like the worlds fastest pregnancy. Where has the time gone??!
waspsandjam I am so sorry that your wife is stuck in hospital. Maybe you could take her a stack of good magazines. The ones in hospital aren't the greatest. Is she crafty?Has she got a tablet? They are good at wasting time. The Nexus is a good one to have.
I need advice. I have never suffered from heartburn in my life but, alas, I have fallen foul of its horrid ways. Has anyone got any tried and tested ways of dealing with it?? I'm not a fan of taking medicine but if I have to, then I will.
Also, now this is verrry personal. Personal grooming. I am struggling to shave my legs and whatnot. I have always used a razor and never ventured down the cream n leave route. Well, I tell a lie - I used a hair removal cream once (many moons ago) and it stank to high heaven so I never bought it again. Which are the better brands to use??
We have our next scan next week and I am getting quite nervous as we find out how we will be having our baby. My placenta is currently blocking the exit you see. After the scan, we will be packing the hospital bag and making last minute preparations.0 -
Just get inventive with shaving positions.. I have never been unable to shave legs or paint my toenails while pregnant and I get enormous!!! I gained over 5 stone with several of mine.
For shaving.. foot on the loo works.. Though when the SPD got bad I could only just manafe to get foot on the step and just bent over squishing the baby.. I had to do it in several goes as the sparkly lights got too much to see properly.
Hair removal creams all smells better than it used to.. still stinky though.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Snozberry,
I had awful heartburn in pregnancy and the best thing I found to sooth was having a hot cup of tea! Sounds crazy, but it was the only thing that worked for me. I would always suffer at night and as soon as I felt it come on would make a cup of tea and it really helped. Don't envy you, having heartburn is awful.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Many congrats Mrshaworth2b :j:j would love to see pics of LO..
Snozberry - ive had quite bad heartburn at times and been prescribed ranitidine as normal gaviscon wasn't always cutting it.
Dealing with it without meds, I would say avoid the foods that give you heartburn, for me this was tea, chocolate, dry foods..
Ive heard that milk helps but also read that it can make heartburn worse so another thing to try and see how you fare
No news here, just waiting on my GTT results - I was asked to book a drs appointment to get my results when I called in this morning so bit worried about that - fingers crossed I get good news..
Also i've been losing weight since 27 weeks - i guess this is normal for third trimester as baby is probably putting on loads of weight now??We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Usually I find that I get heartburn when I'm hungry - it often goes away when I eat so I try that first - if that doesn't work I usually drink a glass of milk and if that still doesn't help at all then I take some Gaviscon. Don't bother suffering with it - Gaviscon is approved for pregnancy so if I were you I'd just take it.
Re. personal grooming: I am still managing to shave my legs - I do them lying down in the bath - I will probably go and get them waxed when I get much bigger. For the more intimate area I obviously can't see past my bump so I use a mirror and Veet sensitive bikini kit - it comes with hair removal cream and a soothing finishing cream and a sort of spatula thing for applying and removing it. It smells a bit, but what I usually do is put it on while the bath is running then remove it and then get straight in the bath to make sure it is all rinsed off and then put the cream on when I come out of the bath. It says on the pack to leave it on 5-10mins and I usually need the maximum to remove all the hairs. I would do a little patch test first to make sure your skin is ok with it, but it is meant to be sensitive... HTH0 -
I know this probably sounds utterly ridiculous, but I swear my bump is getting smallerMy Debt Free Diary

I feel like that some days - I think it is when baby changes position. He was really low at the weekend but has shunted up the way today so my bump is a different shape. That's probably all it is. Either that or you had some bloating / water retention that has now gone
Has anyone else had a sore tailbone? My lower back and tailbone are starting to get really sore from sitting all day in work. Any suggestions to help this (other than getting up every now and again for a walk around which I already do)?0 -
Heartburn - I should have taken out shares in Gaviscon!
Shaving - by the end of it all my SPD was so awful hubby was on sock putting on duty and anything else leg related and my bikini line a long lost cause.
Yes we got home yesterday to whoever was asking - just about caught up on the laundry mountain and starting to get back ahead of myself now.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
