  • I am nervous, but I would be nervous however I was giving birth. At least this way I know what day it is going to happen!

Have you done any antenatal? I have found doing the NCT has really helped.

iwannabeonthebeach I havent started antenatal yet but they actually start tonight. So I am looking forward to getting some information and details tonight. Hopefully it wont freak me out even more!

Hi neneromanova - could you add me please? I've just graduated on here and am due a girl on 10th June. Thank you :-):o
  • Hi,

i'm having a horrible day at work and just need to rant/vent at someone, and unfortunately for you guys, I've chosen you!!!

Long story short (and not baby related) for 3 years i've been inputting some very important government data off a spreadsheet. 2 things you should know about me 1) I HATE spreadsheets 2) I'm horrendous at Maths. You can see how the 2 might be closely linked.

Anyhoo, I've just had a session with my boss and the guy who will take over from me for this particular part of my job whilst i'm on mat leave and lo and behold, it appears that i've misread a spreadsheet for the last 3 years and the figures i've inputted are wrong. Cue me feeling like a complete di*khead in front of my boss and the smarty pants who noticed I'd done it wrong. (even though, each quarter my boss would have to verify what I'd put in, so he technically has missed it too!!)

I've just sat there for 2 hours and sweated (which I never ever do) and feel like I could cry. I warned my boss of my dislike for maths and spreadsheet when he took over the job 3 years ago, but the silly sausage still made me go ahead and do it!!!!

I'm trying to see the funny side of it, I really am, but I've got my midwife appt this afternoon and you just know my blood pressure is going to be sky high!!! My only consolation is that I never have to do this spreadsheet again, and that I finish work in 5 weeks. Think its just frustration with myself for getting it wrong all these years.

Harrummpphhh. Anyhoo, I hope everyone else is having a better day, and people are getting the support they need from outside this forum, as you guys are ace and should all be out there in our working land to help us out.

Thanks for reading if you've managed to keep up!

  • I've added you both to the list. Welcome to the thread :D
What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..
  • Justwantahouse - big hugs for your rubbish day and hopefully after a good sleep you feel a bit better. I am not a lover of spreadsheets either, so feel your pain :o

On a more positive note I am down to one anti-sickness tablet a day and just between 1-3 throw-ups a day :T Still lots of wretching, but hopefully by the time baby comes it will have stopped altogether and I won't still be sick after his arrival like I was with my first  It did stop at 36 (am 33 weeks now) weeks with my daughter so hopefully this will be the same :) Am still waiting to be able to keep anything but low sugar very diluted vimto down, but can live with that for the moment :)

Am suffering from dreadful heartburn again and my lovely "corset" is helping my SPD a bit, am so thankful it is not as bad as my previous pregnancies. Am also having horrendous Braxton Hicks which are very sore  Really thought things had started last night but after around 4 hours they stopped. Never really had them (or felt them) in my previous pregnancies, but these can be so tight I feel like my stomach is being squeezed by a vice - I was struggling to move with them last night? Is this normal?

Welcome to the new ladies

Hope everyone is having a nice day :) xxx
  • chonorla - I am not sure if I've had Braxton Hicks at all. I'm now 36 weeks but I take it if you've had them, you know all about it?

I'd imagine now if i felt that kind of pain this far in I'd assume it was the real thing

  • Jewels - You would think I would know being on my 4th baby wouldn't you....:o

"Apparently" I had them towards the end of my last pregnancy (I was in hospital a couple of times being monitored because babys movements had slowed down and they told me I was having them :)) but they were no where near as fierce as these are? They don't "hurt" like normal contractions, which I believe is the difference between them? But my stomach goes sooo tight it is quite scary  My eldest son said I looked like I was about to explode yesterday and then put the shopping away - so I know he was worried about me :rotfl: I was just left really sore around the sides of my stomach and under my bump last night when they finally stopped  and am very achey this morning too. I have had them all the way through this pregnancy - I even had to have 2 x 20 week scans plus a few walkabouts, because I was having them and it kept scrunching the scan picture up. But I could barely tell then.

Will just take it easy and haven't got long to go now anyway :T And you have even less to go!!! How exciting for you :D
  • I cant have had any because I've not had my stomach tense up the way you describe. You looked like you were about to explode - thats crazy!!

No not long to go - I am just trying to keep sitting forward when at work and relaxing to try and get the baby to face the right way! The midwife described how I can tell that he/she is still back to back because my stomach is slightly sunken at the belly button when i lie down. She said it should be nice and rounded it the baby is facing the back so I'm trying desperately to turn them around!!

You are having them.. they are a normal action of a healthy uterus.. the contracting is how you conceive and how infection is kept out and just because you can't feel it doesn't mean they aren't happening.

Be thankful, they can leave you feeling sore when they get very excitable. I have an irritable uterus... matches the rest of me :p.. so mine are really nasty at the end.
