claretsgirl - maybe we are mad, but I really enjoyed the large gap, it was a bit like having my first baby all over again :) There is only 16 months between my 3 and 4 year old, so I seem to have done every different gap variation going :)

With my first I was told I wasn't in labor and to pull myself together (induction), so I told them I wanted an epidural so they would take me down to labor ward - I was 10cm dilated and baby was crowning - I had him 20 minutes later :o

With number 3 (induction again) I asked to go down to labor ward as I felt I was well into my labor - they said it was too busy and I would have to wait about an hour before I could go  I said I couldn't wait that long and then a different MW came down to see me and said get her up there quick, she is about to give birth (she said she could tell by looking at me!) - 3 minutes later I had him with one single push and I was back on the ward less than half an hour later with baby :rotfl: The MW that had said I had to wait an hour had been on her lunch break and couldn't believe I was sat there with a baby when she came back :rotfl:

My labors are very quick, so they had better listen to me this time or they will be delivering my baby alongside their lunch :D

I think sometimes, because they are doing the job all day every day, they do forget that everyone's circumstances/labors etc can be so different. Insensitive sometimes - yes! But all of my previous MW's have been lovely, even the one that was shouting down the corridor at me and DH to go home and have loads of s*x because I was overdue :rotfl: DH was mortified :o
  • In some ways, chonorla, I'm glad it's not just me! Lol.
I thought I was going back in two weeks, but I'm actually back this Friday for another scan to check measurements. Hopefully it will put my mind at rest and I will feel better anyway as my OH will be able to be there for once. Beautiful weather here, shame I'm working, but it's my last day!!! :-)

Just thought this was interesting app twins are 1 in 90 chance or 1 in 31 if you had medcial treatment to concive.....

Find that kind of werid tho as I don't know many twins!!
People don't know what they want until you show them.

    Evening ladies :)

How are we all this weekend ?
I'm shattered this evening! Had my cousin and her husband staying for the weekend. It was lovely to see them and we arranged the visit for before the baby comes but after a full week of work last week and then the constant entertaining it has been rather draining.

My sister is also critically ill at the moment - it was really touch and go Tues/Wed last week so just taking each day as it comes. In some ways it is harder being on the other side of the world, but in other ways easier as there isn't anything I can do and she is in hospital with her specialist visiting daily (even yesterday and today) so in the best place. We just take each day as it comes.

My feet/ankles have also decided to swell up yesterday evening and today :( I'm not too concerned about it as my BP is stable and still within normal limits (I measure it daily) and my fingers haven't swollen (can still get my rings on and off) so think it is a combination of the walking around yesterday and having to sit with my feet down due to having visitors.

Sorry, I've read all the posts but cannot remember to comment on them all today. Just to say hope that everyone has a lovely week and the sunshine we had today visits again soon

    Saf xx

I think a fair few twins miscarry one baby, I know a couple of people that has happened to
  • Hi,

    Hope everyone is keeping well.

I haven't posted much but have been lurking. Am 35 weeks this week, I finished work 2 weeks ago as I had all my annual leave to use before my maternity starts. Feeling really good apart from waking every 30 mins at night!

When did everyone start antenatal classes? Ours start on 2nd March when I'm 36 weeks. Probably only going to the first and fourth one as second sessions is about complications (i get myself worked up easily so would rather not know, midwife even suggested I didn't go!) The third session is about breast feeding which sadly I'm unable to do due to being on medication for a bowel problem. Did people find their sessions worthwhile? This is my first baby so have no clue at all!

Have you all washed the new baby clothes you have bought or used them straight away? Need to pack my hospital bag this week and as the weather is supposed to be okay I can get the clothes out on the line instead of on the airer.

Trying not to think of the birth, I'm just hoping for a fairly quick, straightforward one!

2 of mine started as twins.

DS2 I mc'd his spectacularly at 8 weeks.. lots of blood and it was 2 weeks before they could be sure he had survived.

DD1 the dead twin was encased in her placenta at about 9 weeks, with a joint blood supply.. caused constant bleeding throughout pregnancy.. but of course we had a good look once the placenta had been delivered.. it was actually pretty cool.. for something so gross.

  • Abbybryan I wash clothes for a new baby - until motivation stops about month 3/4! This time I've re-washed (they've been stored) newborn and premature sized stuff so far - and I'll bung 0-3 month stuff through when I get some decent weather to get them line dried (and know what size baby I'm dealing with). They're all reused clothes though since it's the same sex as number 1 so I know they were washed before they got put into storage.

Mum coming down to help out again this weekend - well, actually she's coming down earlier on Friday as we need to get our car in to get fixed (we've done all winter with no heating and a door that doesn't open from the outside) and sod's law will be I'll go into early labour again (since we're nearing THAT time) when the car's in the maximum number of bits on the workshop floor otherwise, so we want someone with some transport around and local just in case!

Hi all! I'm 24 weeks today so have graduated from the 12-24 week thread - where has the time gone??!! Eeek!

Makes it serious now I am joining an impending birth countdown list *gulp* - could I be added please?

I am due 10th June - its a girl (I don't like surprises!) - and its my first baby - so pretty clueless (and probably my last as I'm "elderly" LOL!:D).

She also can't come early as I am working right up until my due date and in the process of renovating our home (no kitchen nor bathroom still!) - I need tips for making her late!!! :p

That's easy.. have everything ready and waiting and nothing else planned.. If you are sat waiting it won't happen.. that is also the best cure for hiccups.. wait for the next one!
