Congrats Walby1993.x
Wow Saffagal, the nursery looks fab! We're painted, but still actually need everything. Cot. Car seat. Pram etc.
Oh well. Plan to have a shopping sesh at the end of Feb. Thankfully my sister has passed on her used baby clothes from her two girls. I've managed to find a few unisex sleepsuits and plenty of plain vests, perfect for stocking up. Just to get round to washing... may well wait until mat leave starts (with annual leave finish at 35 weeks) and a sunny day.
Chonorla, love that you're removing your fitted wardrobe. Part of our delay is that we've got to fit some sliderobes in our bedroom.
Got letter to book in Whooping Cough jab soon, so will try to organise it sometime this week or next.
Misty, your once a week and then every couple of days visit to hospital sounds a bit of a chore. Worth the close monitoring though.
Does everyone live fairly near to their hospital, or is it a bit of a trek? We're lucky, our hospital is only 7 mins away (6 miles, but we're in the country so a national speed limit road to get there). It does have a massive catchment though, you could easily be 40 mins from it if you lived further up the coast. If you had to visit lots in a week I think that would become frustrating.
Hopefully not long now boldies!

Evening everyone. Congratulations Walby and welcome to the thread claretsgirl.
Saffagal - wowie, your nursery looks awesome, love it!
Iwannabeonthebeach - I get cramp during the night when in bed, have to be so careful stretching my legs or else the pain is excruciating. Then the pain starts in my pelvis trying to get out of bed, sleeping is just a nightmare at the moment.
Lazywife - I live about a mile from my hospital (literally 5 minutes in the car) and hoping to give birth there. Unfortunately it's very busy at the moment and is having to accept additional admissions due to issues at another hospital in the area so next one after that is 21 miles away.
Missty - how exciting with 8 weeks to go. I hate hospitals at the best of times, don't envy your weekly visits, though worth it to know everything is progressing well with baby
I've already had my tea and I'm still blooming starving! Wish my appetite would bog off, going to have to go rooting for something else!I :heart2: saving money0 -
Hi
Congratulations walby
And welcome newbies!!
Beautiful nursery saffagal.
Getting heartburn again really bad, I seem to get it really bad for a few days, it goes for a few days then comes back.. Why do I have to get these with all three pregnancy??
Also suffering from weeing all the time again, and every time I do I either get hit or kicked on bladder which is not a nice feeling.
Just got my whooping jab book for Wednesday.
Other than that roll on 22nd march for my growth scan and the next time I c midwife and consultant and hopefully I will be either booked in for a c section or book in to get induced early
Good luck to everyone that needs it xx0 -
Thanks for the tip about the rocker, it's lovely! Wondering if we should wait to find out the gender though as it's quite blue...
I have my 20 week scan on the 12th! Can't wait, am due on 30th June if I could be added to the list0 -
I love blue, its my favourite colour. To my mind pink is for girls but other colours are completely interchangeable. Mind you, I do have a Total aversion to the colour pink. If our yellow bump turns pink the only pink she'll wear will be gifts when we visit the giver!
Welcome sparkles, lovely to have you join usAre you planning to find out the gender at your scan next week?
Thank you helen. Ooh how exciting to know on the 22nd, its just a few weeks away now. My next scan isn't till the 13th March though I guess having extra scans anyway is a bonus
lazywife, we're 7 miles from our hospital which is about a 10-15min drive as it is 60/50 limit most of the way there. But at peak hours, the road from us to the hospital can queue and it can take quite a bit while longer.
Hope we've all had a good day... Mine was so so but I'm shattered tonight!
Take care all

Lazywife - I live about 10 minutes drive from our most local hospital (one of those drives that can take 5 minutes, or 45 minutes since it's a right traffic blackspot during busy times) but there's no way on this universe I'm going back there again after last time (if I have to - hubby will get in the car - drive for 3 hours so I "accidentally" go into labour near my parents' house to avoid going to the hellhole)! The one I'm going to this time is about a 20 minute drive - but I'd rather have the likelihood of being treated by staff without the total "we work in a pit of despair and hate our patients" attitude and a clean toilet - even if it means a few more minutes of crossed legs!
Saffagirl - I hate pink but I did buy some pink stuff for my last daughter - I hate the whole fact of it being the only colour in some girls' wardrobes more than anything else... indeed now she's older (10 months this week, but starting to get into 12-18 month clothes if they're small fit - not bad for a sub-5lb preemie!) she does tend to wear a fair bit of bright quite loud pink which I don't mind as she's got the same sort of colouring as me - baby pink makes both of us look dire and washed out but we both suit really strong pink and red. My real weakness in little girls' clothes is in Debenhams - I love their Bluezoo stuff (I have a HUGE thing for little denim pinafores with bright coloured appliques on, and brightly coloured cord pinafores) and baby Jasper Conran stuff as there's loads of utterly adorable navy and white stuff in that range which just looks sooooo smart and classy... yep, not moneysaving at all!
We also have loads of blue stuff - borrowed from a slightly older cousin - I refuse to get into the "must be pink for girls or blue for boys" thing... indeed I refused to buy Avent bottles this time around since they ONLY have pink or blue choice ones - the sole choice being between pink or blue drives me absolutely insane!
My mum's been here helping out for the weekend - bought up a load of sale clothes in BHS and M+S (got an adorable bright red fleece lined raincoat for about 2 years old for £18 instead of £26 that I think will be perfect for puddle plodging with wellies on). Mum also found a double umbrella fold buggy in Mamas and Papas of all places reduced from like £230 to £99 that she's bought to have and keep at her house so we don't have to lug ours up and down the country... I was quite surprised at M+P being the cheapest place to buy a decent lie-flat umbrella fold stroller! Considering I paid £60 for my second-hand Cosatto one as well!
Might be of use to someone in a few months - Poundworld have packs of 10 disposable bibs in - they're like £3 a pack in Boots and a nightmare to find - and I've found them really handy to have in my changing bag with a dribbly bottle feeder and then weaning, rather than lugging soggy manky bibs back home and forgetting they're in the bag until I find them a few days later.
In loads of pain - this is the worst my SPD has ever been - I had to beg hubby to work from home for part of today as I just physically couldn't move myself around the room - let alone lift a baby... now resorting to co-codamol at the doctor's suggestion for something I can take that's more than paracetamol just to get a couple of nights worth of decent sleep (had 2 hours if that last night)... although I'm not sure giving out advice along the lines of "you can take co-codamol, go buy them at the chemist, but they won't sell them to you if you're pregnant so send your husband in instead" is the way that the NHS wants you to word things!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Dizzi.. I go myself and tell the chemist they are for my OH or my mother or anyone but me.. but I have prescription ones which have 30mg codeine rather than the 8mg in OTC ones.
Those who 'don't like pink' ... if you get a pink one she is pretty much guaranteed to be the pinkest frilliest thing ever.. that is the way it works!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Congrats Walby!
Saffagal - you're nursery looks great! We still haven't started ours, can't decide on a theme / colour scheme. Best get a move on though!
Today is my last day at work before starting maternity leave - can't believe how quickly it's come round! Thought I'd be really excited about finishing work but instead I feel kind of nervous and a bit freaked out...wish I could make time slow down a bit if that makes sense? Give me a bit of time to catch up and get used to the idea that i'm going to have a baby
Hope everyone's well x
msnigella 35+30 -
saffagal your nursery looks amazing! :j We're the same, baby in with us for first six months then will put the two monsters in together, my DD currently has gruffalo, Winnie the Pooh and Toy Story stickers on her wall - can you tell that mummy couldn't decide on a theme?!
msnigella congrats on last day at work. If you're like me it won't sink in that you're not going back and will just feel like an extended holiday until after the baby arrives!
dizzi in theory I love pink, but again only bright pink! And I try and avoid the pink / blue thing so bought DD lots of blue or neutral things as then it wouldn't matter what flavour of baby we had second time round! I've managed to buy things at the chemist for OH so can't see you'd have a problem getting them by being constructive with the truth, then again if you're having a really bad day with the SPD I'm guessing you'd have to send OH anyway? Really feel for you, I had t really bad with my first pregnancy
AFM, still here, still grumpy and no sign baby wants to make an appearance! Curry didn't work, what got me into this mess didn't work, any suggestions ladies?! Or am I just too comfy for the baby? :rotfl:0
