Personally I think what you look like after the baby varies hugely from woman to woman depending on your pre-pregnancy size and what number baby it is?

My first, I lost 3 stone with HG, had a 9 and half pound baby and was back in normal clothes within days. I was only 22 at the time.
My second, once again 9 months of HG, even bigger baby, and was back in normal clothes in around 6 weeks.
Number 3 baby - Bigger baby again, I still looked pregnant about 10 weeks later, so swiftly joined Slimming World
So with number 4, I am expecting to be in maternity clothes for another 9 months after the birth :rotfl:

I was not particularly slim (about size 14 and 5ft 3) with baby 2,3 or before I got pregnant with this one, so I am hardly going to ping back into shape very easily :o

The bump is still there but just sort of deflated!

So I agree maternity clothes to come home in too. Comfort is best :D

Your womb takes six weeks to get back to normal size, plus you're still be retaining fluid and feeling and looking bloated as a result for up to two weeks after delivery. I remember that for the first couple of days after I had Freddie, I actually retained even more water than when pregnant. The tops of my thighs and round my love handles were enormous!

Fast forward two months on and I was nearly a stone lighter than before falling pregnant. If there's one weight loss diet that works it's breastfeeding, I can tell you :D I was over 10 and a half stone when I got pregnant. I weighed myself today (Freddie's six months) and I'm 8 stone 13 lb. I haven't been under 9 stone since birth.

Still got a mum-tum though... but I've a feeling only surgery can cure that. Skin's stretched too far, innit.

in my case, BF just made me feel hungry ALL the time, i actually put on more weight on than when pregnant, and did not loose it until i stopped BF'ing my daughter.

I took a pic of my post baby bump if you'd like to see it Queen_B? :P
  • I went home in my pjs (they were a size above my normal size). They were very comfy. By the time I had my son I only had 2 pairs of trousers that fitted me. My waters broke in one pair, and I put the other pair on to go to hospital, so they were soggy too.
I may go home in my pjs this time too as they were sooo comfy.

Still no baby. Got S+S on Friday and I'll be booked for an induction too, just in case.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Comfort afterwards is really important to me so I reckon I should be ok if I pack some leggings and a baggy top, I have a mat top that I think will be ideal.

I have been stalking B&B for post partum pics and was amazed to see that no two women were the same.

Sorry to hear you are still waiting for baby hngrymummy, sending labour vibes across.......

Yes fluff is right. Can be both very informative and OTT.

It's an online forum, don't know the exact web address, I always put baby and bump in google, lazy!
