Gave birth, 20 mins later delivered placenta (naturally, but midwife says this has no bearing on the whole thing), then stood up and fainted. At the time they said I had lost no more than 400ml so everything was OK. Next day I complained of dizziness, heart feeling funny, I was very grey and they did an iron test and then recommended a transfusion.
Went home. Just felt so weak, tired, rough, pains in abdamon, no relief from SPD type pains, this went on for 3 weeks until one night I was just sat on the sofa a blood just poured out of me - called an ambulance.
I had retained products - fairly big bit according to the surgeon who did the ERPC. Bit worrying, I got the impression it should have got picked up from inspecting the placenta.
After 3 days in hospital, fluids, anitbiotics and an ERPC, I was literally 100% well overnight! Sadly I still didn't get any sleep as they allowed DD to stay with me as I was BFing :rotfl:Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

Oh heck I didn't mention sneezing/coughing haha! It's on experience.
Queen_B I was asked when I was there. I'd say maybe write your own note for your folder. There's some main things... injection for placenta, pain relief options, who cuts the cord and who is allowed in the room. If they are written down already they won't have to ask.
I wouldn't worry about milk supply. Most women are fine... if not I'll courier you mine :P0 -
I just googled placenta!!! Omg there is nothing pretty about giving birth!! I'm 30 weeks tomorrow!! Can not wait to have my babyNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0

Lol at the placenta pic. I will have to Google it myself, they put the injection, got it out and never saw it. My DH told me it was the size of a small plate and blue and red... idk why he even looked at it!! Lol
I didn't know Sainsbury 's had it I might go and buy more. It should be ok if it has no alcohol, I bought one at Home bargains that had alcohol, didn't fancy that on the stitches!!! Lol. The first couple of days everything was so sore that it made not different, but after that it just refreshes the area and calms some itchiness.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Thanks for the welcomes.. I 'm the same as you martafdz.. My baby won't be having his own room for a while! We have a 2 bed house and the second bedroom I use in the evenings to tutor in at the moment, I'll be on mat leave for 6 months all being well and the baby will have to be in with us in our bedroom as I'll hopefully still be doing a bit of tutoring so not planning on buying any baby furniture until the baby is big enough to go in a cot. I think we're going to be quite lucky with second hand stuff as both my husbands brother and my sister have had babies in the last year so I dont think I'll need to buy a Moses basket, just a mattress.
I know I'll need to get a radio thing - monitor at some point so just going to keep my eyes open for one of those. Am also only 22 weeks so still worried something might go wrong..
I've just had a look at the link to the list of stuff ill need for hospital, which until now hasn't even crossed my mind!! I might have a look on m and s and see what dark pjs they have as when I went in the other day there were some really cheap nightmare stuff - £4.00 a nighty etc
Bought my first maternity bra yesterday which has been like heaven wearing today!! So soft and comfy compared to my usual wire bras which are now digging in me!
Me and oh decided not to stress too much over Christmas about money ( we didn't spend much on each other but we have had loads of family do's at our house which have cost a lot in food and drink ) and we're going to really start budgeting etc from jan as we have 4 pay days to do what we can. I thought making a start on this board would focus me and I can start thinking about what essential thinks I need to buy each month. Really interesting and exciting reading about how people are doing that have just had babies... Certainly stuff my book does not mention!!!Baby due 4th May 2013

presents for the baby from family help so much. we got the moses basket and my mother in law got us a pram and car seat. my mum got us some baby furniture from a cousin who works at mothercare so lots of discount. it helps to try and save here and there. i got my nighties etc from primark for the hosp bag. i was thinking about tutoring today as well and was wondering how to get into that at home so i can see if can make some money whilst not working.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!
