Well Rups... I had the jab for the afterbirth as with my low iron they were concerned about bloodloss. I felt no contraction... just the midwife giving the occasional tug at the. cord. I believe she did have her hand on my belly so she may have felt a contraction?
I didn't pee from 3pm Christmas eve until probably the same time Christmas day! When they tell you drink... make sure you do!
I didn't have a bowel movement until boxing day evening. It was basically very dark green and so loose. I had another one later in the evening. I informed the midwife who said to see if I had any more. I went again the day after and it was "normal". Still green though lol! I don't know if it's normal or maybe to do with the pethadine? As of this morning it's back to normal.
Blood loss is another weird one. I'm not really bleeding. It's watery... maybe a sort of um... you know when you dissolve jelly? That kinda thing. Not period like at all. And I'm getting practically nothing.
Anything else you wanna know? Lol xxx0 -
I had to have my placenta manually removed last time - in chunks! Remember those bits where James Herriott was always getting up close and personal with cows' rears in All Creatures Great and Small... that basically - they were yanking chunks of it out!
Hubby turned around at the wrong point and got to see a bucket full of shredded placenta being carried out of the room by a very green-looking student!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I had quite a lot of bleeding but no problems with bowel movements. I had "emptied" before going to hospital and I was dead worried during labour that I'd end up passing some, but mw laughed it off and told me I wasn't going to, which I didn't. After labour I didn't eat much the following day, so it took me 48h to go, but no problems at all, even though I had a 2nd degree tear. I found that relaxing and holding a wet maternity pad or tissue against the stitched area helped. But mainly relaxing and stop thinking the stitches might suffer, I had no problems. The distilled witch hazel on a pad helped a lot. Also, the pads from hospital and the ones from mothercare made me feel sore and caught my stitches, Tesco or boots are firmer and smoother to the skin, imo, at least if you have stitches.
P.S. Bleeding was watery too, make sure you stand up every few hours and walk a big. I spent s lot of time sat down and the blood accumulated and later on I passed some huge clots, mw came and checked them, and they were ok but scary looking!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Hi ladies, bamama your very brave after my first baby it took me 11 days to do a bowel movement as I had stitches and I was worried something would fall out or pop lol, are you getting many after pains? All I can say is they get much worse with every baby, I think these alone are putting me off number 4 lol.
Well I made a rookie mistake today, got is all ready and in the car got my new double pushchair to pop in they boot and its too big! Am gutted why didn't I check earlier, am going to see if my sister wants it she's due in may and her car is massive compared to mine.
Now my mission is to find a double that will fit my corsa boot lol
I hope your sweep works for you rups, none of mine did for me! Lol0 -

Ohh my first bowel movement was hard and the first time i needed a wee, it felt very weird, i thought, ohh it feels like my whole body is loose inside , it helped pouring water with a jug. These are things that books do not mention properly. I was v. annoyed with my mum afterwards, she did not say anything about so much bleeding or going to the toilet or even just lifting my legs to get into the bath.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0
