  • Hey rups, really hope something happens for you soon...! I hadn't even thought about music, I know they mentioned it at the nct classes but just hadn't given it a second thought! I've got a couple of chill out albums- but they are more dance chill outs if you know what I mean... Not sure if that's what you mean? I think I'd like something with words or my fav albums so hopefully it will distract me rather than blend in as background music...
  • I haven't had any thoughts on music either. Not sure whether I will bother or not as I have a feeling it may be more of a hindrance than help.

Mrshaworth - I have been off work for 6 weeks now as had some sick leave before mat leave started and I was worried that I wold be bored, no chance, always pottering around or having a nap, you will be surprised how quick the day goes.

Don't worry about moaning Rups, think you are more than entitled to, it's time for baby to make an appearance!

Hope you enjoy your break Morocha.

Mrsh2b does that patch feel sort of like it's bruised? Midwife told me that sort of thing is common. You may well feel the same patch over the next few weeks. She said it's just like a bit that is stretching differently :)

Rups... my midwife put music on for me. It was a Christmas party cd. I actually giggled through some of the pain as it had things like the macarena and mambo no5 XD
  • 2 more shifts after this one!!!!!!! I'm sooooo excited!!

Hi Banama, yeah it felt bruised, I was all hard round the front so I think he had been with his back to my front because I wasnt feeling many kicks either but he turned after I had a shower and we were back to normal.

Hope everyone is well. 24 hours at work in total and then I am done done done for maternity!! I love my job but god am I ready for a break.

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting since I introduced myself properly, spend most free time on the fb group and with Christmas and work things have been a little busy to say the least!

Huge congratulations to Lozzy and Welshgirl! Lozzy, sounds like you had a really good birth!

As for me I am 32 weeks +1 and time seems to be flying, work is definately getting more difficult now, only 4 weeks to go woohoo!

My post Christmas mind has now well and truly turned to baby. Planning to hit the shops today to see of anything I need(or don't need!) is in the sale!

When should I pack my hospital bag and do any of you have any experience of birthing with the hypnonatal cd??

I used a hypnobirthing book and CD to prepare, but I didn't use it during labour. I did think about it during labour and did some of the visualisation techniques. I think it might have helped although hard to say without being able to compare labour without it! I got to 8cm using tens then I had a really chilled out water birth with gas and air which I didn't always use. It was the most amazing experience of my life. I've always been a strong believer that your body knows what it's doing and to go with the flow - and that's pretty much what I got from the book. Gas and air is amazing though so I'll be using it to it's full potential next time :-)

Think I had my bag packed by 36 weeks last time.

As for music, IMO what's relaxing to one person isn't to another! I had my iPod on shuffle - Metallica, nickelback, and staind mostly :-)

  • I had my bag packed by about 30 weeks last time... thank god!
Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!
  • When my friend was pregnant with her first she packed her hospital bag at 30 weeks and announced that the baby could 'come any day now'. Poor girl ended up being induced at 40+12!

I think it's always better to be prepared. I am not yet packed but I have everything I need. The only things I want to buy are cheapie slippers, cheapie dark towel and a nightie which I intend to buy over the next couple of weeks but if something was to happen now I have these already that I could use if need be.

I am going to start washing and putting stuff together after the new year so will be sorted by the time I am 34 weeks.

A lady at my antenatal class was 38 weeks and not packed a thing yet and didn't seem bothered about it.

I would recommend go with whatever you are comfortable with.
