Happy New Year!!!!!
Rups, the sweep might work for you and you do not need to go through induction. The sweep worked for me, 6h afterwards I was calling the hospital for first time.
Btw, if any of you want to keep the info on the green notes, such as measurements week by week, when your baby engaged and anything on there... photocopy or scan it as you go along. Once you hand it out in hospital, they won't give it back to you, which annoyed me a lot. The same happens with the hospital discharge letter and all the documents that are filled after the birth, when you are discharged.from midwife care, she takes them with her I made her wait whilst I scanned them today! I wanted to keepthe official record of when she was born, the time the weight, the length of labour and all the notes about how I tried to breastfeed but had to give.her formula instead. I'd like her to be able to read it when she's older.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Sorry gals, not read older losts but i have seriously q jumped.......
Baby BikerChick was born at 9.01pm Dec 30th, weighing 5lb 9 1/2 oz. In earlier than expected with blood loss initially @02.40 29th, followed quickly by contractions & after exam, waters broke, then contractions stopped in afternoon. had to have front waters broken & be induced on 30th with drip.
We are very happy & are working through low/inconsistant sugar levels & fluctuating temp readings, so likely to need to be in hospital til Thur night @ best.
Hope you all have wonderful 2013 & as soon as i am bome & can get on web will catch up.Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect, you've just decided to see beyond the imperfection.....0 -
Happy new year ladies!!
Congrats bikerchick!
Only 9 weeks and 6days to go for me!! I'm in single figures and I cannot wait!! Took a lot of energy to stay awake for the fireworks at 12 last night but managed it and then went straight to sleep as had to be in work for 8 this morning!! Off to get some breakfast. Have a great day whatever you do.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Dewi has been feeding brilliantly with nipple shields. Every 4 hours, 20 min of skin to skin feeding before he pulls off and sleeps. Then he gets dressed and wakes for 5/10 min more... dessert? Lol. Then he goes down beautifully.
Hope everyone had a good new year. Me and the little man celebrated his 1 week mark last night too. Daddy was fast asleep lol.0 -
Happy new year!! Managed to stay awake til fireworks last night ... Feeling some nesting setting in today with it being first day of 2013... I might sort out the kitchen drawers or something!
I also plan to paint my bedroom ( not today but soon) and sort out the damp - there's a problem an I don't want it still to be there when the baby comes.
Saf..all sounds good with you.. I've had 20 week scan which turned out to be 21 weeks and a bit and I'm having another scan at 28 weeks which I'm really looking forward to. It's great that you're being given so much stuff - it will save you a small fortune!! I went in John Lewis around the baby department and couldn't believe the cost of everything .. Will be second hand stuff for our baby all the way!!
Wow nearly midday and not done a thing yet.. Better get a scoot on
Have a good jan 1st everyone xBaby due 4th May 2013

Congratulations BikerChick, I had a feeling that we might sneak another birth in before the end of the year. I'm glad that you and baby are ok.
nomorespending - we have a damp problem in the bedroom that is going to be our nursery. Basically the neighbours guttering is wrecked and is leaking and because our house is made of stone the bricks are quite porous so when it rains (a lot at the moment!) it is leaking into our wall and has been since October. Problem we have is that the neighbours house is rented so they are taking forever and a day to sort it. They have accepted that they will fix it but it gets my goat up as we can't even think about sorting that bedroom out yet so its a pig sty with all our baby furniture/stuff piled in a corner. It's going to be Summer before it's sorted because once the issue is fixed the wall will need to dry outLooking at the bigger picture it's not that much of an issue as baby will be in with us for 6 months but it would be nice to get sorted. Do you know the cause of your damp?
Clever Dewi Bamama, what a star! And a great way to celebrate his 1 week birthday
I managed to stay up past midnight to watch the fireworks on BBC1, paying for it today, feeling shattered. Been having a bit of a sort out now but feeling a bit tired so might go and have a rest, ha!
I got a bit scared last night as once it had gone midnight I realised that I will be having a baby this year
7 weeks and 2 days till EDD for me!I :heart2: saving money0 -
We've got a few minor damp issues in this house - a combination of knackered wooden-framed double glazing we want to get gradually replaced (next door's a builder so can do us a window at a time when we find the cash), render that's needing to be re-done and guttering that's struggling to cope now we're replaced the 100 year old roof! (we knew the roof needed doing when we bought the house though - got that done just before this winter kicked in in earnest)
Thankfully ours is the downstairs bay window, and our bedroom wall - all at the front of the house and not the kids' room at the rear... that bit just needs replastering when I strip the woodchip off as the shower leaked before we bought the house - hence I'm leaving the woodchip ON until the kids are big enough to fully appreciate a nice new room (and I know if they're a pair of girlie girls or not to decorate appropriately)... oh the joys of a 100 year old house! (still have some windows single-glazed... well you ever tried getting an OCTAGONAL - yes, very PlaySchool window cheaply?!)
Trying to make shepherd's pie (I tend to batch cook and use foil trays to freeze stuff) but it's taken blooming ages since big girl is at the stage of eating our food as long as the chopped up bits in it aren't massive - and I keep getting dizzy spells and my pelvis keeps failing so I have to come and sit down then do another bit and so on... should make 2-3 good meals for hubby and me and about 6-7 freezer portions for the little lady at least (and she LOVES shepherd's pie!) - I try to keep HER freezer drawer stocked up with things she likes - especially since we're now past the viability point and so if it came earlier and grandmas had to look after her it means I know there's a good bank of food sorted for her in the house ready (not that I'm opposed to jarred stuff but I like to have the mix of options). I do remember why I don't make shepherd's pie very often though - last time I gave myself a blister peeling all the spuds!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Hi,
Can I join this thread too-I have been keeping an eye on it for a few weeks now but as I finished work yesterday I now have some more time to post etc!
We are having twins and I am 29w 6 today with an official due date of 13 march 2013. The twins aren't identical and we don't know their sexes. I anticipate that they will arrive at the end of Feb as the consultant said I wouldn't go past 38 weeks. I have got another scan at 32 weeks - I must admit that having the additional scans is reassuring!
I have been stocking up on things over the last few months to try to spread the cot. Next job is to order the pram which we will probably do tomorrow!
I was also wondering what the Facebook page is .....?
It is really interesting and helpful reading all the posts-here's to the safe arrival of all the 2013 babies!0 -
Well have achieved nothing today other than to make tea and not spend any money!! Not even done any washing!!
QueenB we have a damp problem in our bedroom which is obviously where baba will sleep for first 6 months.. Basically we live in a bungalow and my bedroom has too external walls both of which get damp and grow mold ( black stuff ) behind our wardrobe and doors. We aLso have condensation problem with window. Have had someone out who said its just condensation and dehumidifier will sort it but after months of dehumidifying it hasn't worked I think the actual walls are damp -maybe need a damp proof injection or something so with baby coming in may I want to make sure it is addressed and dried out ready for then.. I think there's a chance it will need replastering so will have to get my act together. Can't do anything until have sorted my finances out and that's dependent on house sale of another house... Although the damp problem doesn't seem to create a problem for me and husband can't really risk it for tiny lungs. The bedroom whichh will be the baby's is ok but is the size of a postage stamp so we can't move in there once baby is here ( could possibly go in there while work is being done)
Have felt super lethargic today.. Am still waiting for the energy that is said to come with second trimester... Haven't had a sniff of it yet!!! I am going to start walking tomorrow for 30-45 mins each day- will update on my progress. Before I got pregnant I was running 3 times a week and I haven't run once since - this is because i got pregnant on my honey moon and when I got back I just didn't get back into it. So my fitness level has really declined and I am out of breath with this big tummy just goiing up stairs. I know the fitter I am the better prepared my body will be for labour so am going to have to get a grip and get my bum out for a walk. Have also ordered a maternity costume from next in the sales for £8 which should get rid of my 'I can't swim as have no costume' excuse!
Ok off to tidy kitchen see you ladies laterBaby due 4th May 2013
