LadyM - yes that's who it was, my memory isn't so bad after all!
They were very pleased with my 14.5 iron levels at booking in and refer to them regularly as "excellent" before I point out that I'd been on 8 tablets since 4 weeks pregnant so no wonder they were excellent! Then they took me off them and wondered why they'd dropped! Doh!
Midwife regularly goes into raptures over my amazing iron levels - then I got so much ear ache on the maternity ward last time over my levels being low and me refusing iron tablets (last thing I wanted with a 3rd degree tear were poos of iron) on the grounds that if they offered edible food my levels would go fine pretty damned sharpish themselves... funnily they were back to their usual "amazing" levels 4 months later when I got upduffed again!
moneypenny - worth asking your local Childrens Centre if they'll do something on baby first aid there - ours had the Red Cross out once to the baby group recently (which was of minimal use since the attendance went from the usual 15-20 mums to around 50 that day so it was chaos), but they've had them back since then for a booking needed session in further depth as well.
As for one of our ante-natal classes - it WAS her shoving a DVD on and vanishing for a cup of coffee for 40 minutes... in hindsight I'm actually still annoyed about that session then to this date - they were meant to be doing breastfeeding but didn't have enough sensible sized dolls to use - cue a couple getting smaller dolls and lots of jokes about "oooh you've got the premature one" and the woman doing the class commenting that "obviously you won't need to know how to hold a baby THAT size so I'm not going into it"... and who ended up having to do just that?! That and I just couldn't take bright blue knitted breasts at all seriously - if they go that colour - worry!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
i wonder what the pressure is as well? I def cant walk properly today and the right pelvis side and groin area hurt, so who knows? I as told baby is 3/5 engaged. whatever that means, so not fully there. i dont know. i tried sitting on a gym ball but it didnt help. had some icecream a while ago lol.. baby seems to be blowing some kind of bubbles in my belly way down below. are getting palpitations normal too. i get fast heart beat here and there at times. lol..
Ah you sound just like me Rups! My walking is getting slower and more painful, I find it hard to set off, but double crutches really help. I hate the palpitations, they come on all of a sudden, even at rest, but then they go eventually. I know what you mean about being 'hairy' as well. I decided to take a razor to it a couple of weeks ago, as I worried they wouldn't find the entrance :rotfl:
Lots of interesting pains earlier on this evening. Rang both sets of parents (one on standby to have 5yr old, the others have a 3hr journey) and now everything has settled down and he's gone back to sleep!
Oh well, day +5 tomorrow. Oh and well done to everyone who has popped recently and left me at number 1!

dizzi - thanks for the tip about baby first aid and the sure start centres - I think it is something that would be really useful. We did get a fair few dvds at the ante-natal but the breastfeeding one was a copy to take home with us from a midwife appointment and then made us watch bits of it again at the ante-natal class. Would have been much better to get us to learn how to bath a baby or talk about what they need to sleep in (how many layers etc) instead we got a 1980s dvd about neuro-pathways and brain development  We also had a knitted blue boob!0

I might not post much, life still a bit difficult but i am treating myself a lot

Yep, 5 days in one hours time, but who's counting
Oh Rups, I haven't been able to cook for the last couple of weeks! My poor son gets Ikea, Morrisons or a friend's house for tea!
But I DID enjoy a fish madras from the local yesterday so not all bad :rotfl:
I can't see to shave down there either, so I just sort of guessed...!
let's hope I don't scare the midwife!
My hubby used to get worried about me overdoing things with our first, so wasn't too keen on me having family round. But he's not of Asian descent, so didn't get his head around the fact I really wanted to see them, as my family mean everything to me. He's got used to it now!

Iron levels are funny things then. I think I was 11.8 to start (no tablets) down to 10.8 at 28 weeks (tablets) back to 11.2 last antenatal check (happy) and 10.2 following delivery where I lost a litre of blood - and they've sent me home with iron tablets! (I have a rather nasty tear so constipation is not desirable...)0

Ahh savage how ar you? Can't wait t hear your birth story - did you get any of it at home? I kept everything crossed for you! Sorry you had a bad tear
hope you feel better soon. Hope your baby cuddles are lovely!

Not too much at home unfortunately, but even then it was going largely ok until the end
will try type story up tomorrow when I have two hands. Currently waiting for baby to wake up and have his next feed - clearly I think he was due one at 12 (which is when I woke up!) but he's fast asleep on my lap!
