Congrats savage!!!
Thanks for your birth story cheqmate, I think it is great you have been reading this thread to get to know more about different symptoms and tips. You should be a role model to many dads-to-be. My DH has been amazing through the pregnancy and now he's just being awesome. He's sleeping on the sofa by my side waiting for me to wake him up to cuddle little Victoria whilst I have a nap. I'm finding the breastfeeding difficult, she asks for it every 2-3h but either falls asleep after 5min, or cries and eats for 2h, so I'm having almost no sleep. I think I'm sleeping about 4-5h a day in chunks of 1-2h. But it's worth.
I might write a proper birth story, but I do not know when, so here goes a short version: I had a sweep at 3pm, by 7pm I had started to have contractions, by 10pm I called the ward and got told to have a bath and paracetamol. I was having contractions every 4min for 45secs but the lady on the phone said that if I could talk through a contraction it meant I was not ready. I waited 2h and called again, contractions were every 3min for a min or more. ,she told me to wait again, apparently, but I did not understand her and went to hospital. I was told there that I was 2cm only and thus I should go home and wait or walk around. I was almost ready to go when they noticed blood nd decided to put me on a monitor. So no waterbirth. They could not figure out what the blood lost was so at 1:30am they moved me to the consultant led ward. My contractions were going to my back, and the lower spine hurt more than the contraction in my case. The pain and the shock of the blood kind of threw away my aspirations of hypnobirth. I had gas and air plus diamorphine, which I recommend. It made me relax between contractions and go into a dream like zone, relieved the pain apparently about 40%. I didn't want an epidural. My DH was with me all the time and he was amazing. At 6:45 I started to feel like pushing but for some weird reason I didn't want to! Baby was getting distressed and my DH told me they were talking about intervention if I did not push her out there and then. I pushed 5times and she was born at 7am. I had a few tears, some in the labia, and because of that the mw couldn't do it and had to call a Dr for her to put anesthesia and put the stitches. They now hurt and cannot really walk or sit.down properly. I think one of them has moved or something, I'm bleeding very high up. I am also having abdominal pains and passed a huge blood.clot today, the mw is coming tomorrow to check me and the baby, so I'll see if it is normal. Oh, I had the waters broken for me at around 4am, and they showed distress. However, my little one was born very awake, with her eyes wide open, didn't cry more than a bit and stared at us in the skin to skin!!
I'm having problems with the bf. I have milk but she doesn't seem to be having enough despite my breasts leaking now, she hasn't done a poo in the last 24h and has red crystals in the urineI called bf support and I'm feeding her often now but it worries me
Rups, it's very sensible not to have visitors. Since birth, we both live in our pyjamas in the living room, I barely manage to squeeze a shower in the day, we don't eat at regular hours, we take naps in turns and I'm most of the time with my breasts out because of the constant feeding, so I've given up on bras and t-shirts, I have a gown that I open when needed. Also, my current pains make me want to stay on DH's reclining chair all day, I thought I'd be having the energy and will to do stuff but even walking to the toilet gives me pains, so I try to move only when necessary. I have my fil coming tomorrow and I'm not sure how ill do. My mil came at the weekend and they stayed most of the time alone because I went to other room to bf and have a nap. You do not know how you'll feel, I thought I wanted my mil here for a few days after the birth to help, but in hindsight, I'm not feeling well enough and my lovely DH does the housework anyway. I'm being cared 24/7.
Just as advice: I found that the mothercare pads were horrible with the stitches, they have a thin layer of material that would catch them, I think that's what has messed up one or two nearby the top (yep, where the clit is). The pump has been brilliant. I'm glad I have it. When my milk first came in and my baby did not get it all out, it helped me relieve the engorgement by taking out some of it. I'm sterilizing it atm (the Medela swing can be put into dishwasher for that) so I can give her extra milk with my finger.
I had more to add, but I've forgotten what and my lo seems to be waking up. My labour was not as planned, we were put in amber code and I'm in pain atm.... but I'd do it all over again.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Savage- glad you got a bit of it at home & that you were mostly happy with it
Marta - thanks for your story, sorry it didn't go to plan & sorry you feel unwellhope your stitches heal really soon. Good advice about the visitors. I'm feeling the pressure of the big family meal on Xmas day, I know everyone will be upset if we are out of hospital & don't make it but I've been trying to warn everyone that I just do not know how I'll feel, they seem to be understanding but I know deep down they'll all be upset & I'll feel guilty if we don't go. but for once I need to think of the baby first and then myself!
Had a couple of hours sleep but seem to be wide awake now  will have a snooze later on I'm sure. Still feeling peaky but much much better thank goodness :T0 -
will try and head to the post office later to post some cards. it will take me ages no doubt. hope everyone is ok. moneypenny hope the cold goes away soon. someone told me the other day having a cold could also be we are near labour. lol. lets see hey? i dont want this when i am pushing etc as what will i concentrate on, breathing properly or pushing? lol x
If the cold theory is true, has happened here too. Started suffering with cold and sore throat on 9th, edd was 10th and gave birth on 13th.
Mind you, struggling with coughing still. Can't seem to clear it plus bruising and 'damage' down below are making it difficult to cough effectively.Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
The midwife actually said the same thing about the cold to me but as today is day 7 of it I'm thinking it doesn't seem to be applying to me :rotfl: :waves: hi mlbarret hope you are ok0

Morning everyone  last day at home before being induced
Yep, bit scared. TMI but I've been constipated for last few days - on lactulose and drinking water but nothingStressing me out, any high fibre meals you ladies can recommend as a kind of 'last supper'?
marta - thank you for your story, so glad you're home safely.
When Walnut is born they are going to NICU so we will be in this weird position where we'll come home and I guess can get some sleep. Spoke to physio yesterday about birth and SPD and she said 'I'll see you on the ward afterwards with all the other mums' - made me realise I'll probably be on a ward with mums and their babies whilst mine isn't with meBut at least I'll know they are in the right place.
With visitors, I'm really lucky, all of the family have said they'll wait to see how we feel. We can have visitors with NICU but I think we have to get used to it first and see how we feel - we're not going to feel bad about saying no.
On top of all this we're now moving 11th Jan - so much going on!
Right, had better think of things to do on 'last day'.

If you feel she's not getting enough milk because she's feeding really often it's normal at the start. They cluster feed it helps to establish your milk supply. Babies belly is tiny and can only hold a few ml at a time and because breast milk is concentrated and thinner than formula it digests quicker.
Crystals in the wee are normal in the first few days its their bodies filtering things out. My little boy had red crystals in his wee and his boobs leaked a little milk. I was not prepared for that I can tell you.
A baby doesn't always poo everyday. Jake went from 8 poos a day to one every 5 days. If you feel she's constipated a warm bath, gentle tummy massage and cycling her legs will help xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx

Ohh Marta :j Congratulations !!!I am so glad u are having support from your DH. Everthing will get better in time, your body has gone though so much but believe me you will feel better soon.
I chose not to have visitors for 2 weeks when DD was born, a decision i nver regretted and i will have the same way this time around. It really !!!!ed me off that the day i was discharged from hospital (1 day after giving birth) went back to my in laws house( was living there at the time) my Sil and Bil were there, she bought presents and put them in my room, spent hours trying to "teach me" everything when with my stitches and loooong labor all what i wanted to do was to sleep and not to talk to this know-it- all prson who couldnt care less about my pregnancy all the previous months and now was playing her part.
This time around, at 33 weeks she is still the only person that sorta refuses to acknowledge that i am pregnant and hasnt even said congratulations or referes to the baby in any way. I know when the time comes, tho she will try to come to show off when my in laws are here.
I live in my own house now, so i will have the chance to put something outside the door when i am sleeping or baby is. The only people i will let in my house are my in laws cos they are like my own parents.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -

Hey moneypenny
Not too bad here. Struggling a bit with bf. Have good and bad feeds, and having spoken to bf support on phone last night, can see that I'm doing my best and there's help available.
Just waiting for mw to arrive for blood !!!!! test and will bombard her with bf, sore nipple, h'roid, and tear questions.
