Oh Marta, sorry to hear you are in pain with the stitches :(

Stay strong with the feeding! Easy for me to say as I'm not having to get my boob out every couple of hours... sending you all the strength I can!!! xxx

Oh on the dirty nappy front, the book I have from the hospital literally just says "some babies have a bowel movement at or around every feed; some can go for several days without a movement. Either can be normal." So long as you are getting plenty of wet ones :)
I know the general rule for adult movements is 3 times a day to once every 3 days.

Managed a good sleep here. Nearly 11 hours! Quite a few pee breaks but can't complain. Gotta ring for my blood results soon. Gonna enjoy my hot chocolate first though :)
  • Morning everyone!

Thanks for posting about your birth Marta and that you are getting the support you need re bf.

We got told at class yesterday that it was normal for babies to have the red crystals in wee for the first day or so, also that it is normal for baby girls to have a small AF.

Going to breast feeding workshop tomorrow and I asked if they had knitted boobs and the midwife said no they are plastic but have no nipples so no idea how we are going to get on with that one :rotfl:

I also don't want any visitors around when baby is born, happy for immediate family to come to the hospital but once we are home I don't want anyone round for 5-7 days. Normally no one comes to my house ever so it will be interesting to see how many people want to come and visit once there is a new baby, irritating!

Morocha - ace purchases, I LOVE MAc makeup, it is my splurge! Hoping Santa is going to bring me either some new pigments or one of the holiday palettes.

Hope you are enjoying you last day Pea and labour vibes to Hotbern and moneypenny come on babies!

    Hello to everyone else! :)
    I :heart2: saving money
  • Morning all, it's so interesting to read about after the birth from you experienced mums. The midwives are all for bf but to hear from other mums how hard and tiring it can be makes you realise that it's something that needs to be worked at. The midwives aren't always so forthcoming with that!

I had a good sleep up a few times needing a wee! Then at 6 woke up with indigestion and my chest was really sore! Does anyone else wake up just generally uncomfortable? Seems to happen once a night for me now!

Off for a shower and then to the chemist the doctor gave me antibiotics because I had fluid in my ear from this cold! Hope it will shift for Xmas! Then work at 3 till 11 yipppeeee! :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!

MushyPeas - remember if you need support- Bliss aren't just there for the prem babies who go into special care - they support those families who had full-termers who need to go in there too...although their discussion boards are somewhat quiet on their website - they've got tonnes of factsheets on there and their phone line are really good - indeed when I utterly fell apart in the aftermath of our trip through NICU (basically I have PTSD from what we went through - mainly just the fact we had a diabolically bad hospital and weren't very well treated there) - they picked up the pieces and provided counselling for me, when the unit itself had washed their hands of us totally... I really can't praise them enough.

hi all. hope everyone is ok...been catching up here.

Hope you are enjoying you last day Pea and labour vibes to Hotbern and moneypenny!!

good luck at the hosp bamama. you def will feel more energised after the transfusion.:) hope all goes well hon.

Marta sorry to hear about your tears. hope you are ok and healing up well..

i went to the docs this morning as this cold is pi--ng me off. he checked me out and said to wait till friday and then ring up and he can prescribe me antibiotics. said i was allowed vicks/olbas/soothers etc etc as baby is fully growns so shouldnt worry about using these cold remedies. as long as i steer away from nurofen etc.. so i went and got some olbas etc and will use tht tonight to steam. walked back and got a back ache so am staying out for a bit now.. lol.

with regards to family visiting, thanks for everyones views. so weird yet i agree too. i know dh is thinking of me being tired and with a new baby. i knowmy mum will be so excited so i do hope if she comes, she can see bubs abd then head off home, as rightly as he says we wont be in the right state of mind to start offering people teas/coffess as that is what happens in my culture. def no food and he also said he doesnt want my mum cooking for us and we would rather spend some time together alone and then they can come later on.. i want my brothers to all come round and stuff too but like we already know, they def wont stay for a bit and i will have my nieces there and it might be too much so maybe better let them know that it wont be a good time but i can see them getting upset. wish they have the sense to say that they will leave us to it for a bit. fingers crossed.

when my sister in laws sister gave birth, she had one of those bad tears as well and epios...whatever the procedure is called, and she was in pain plus getting used to a baby. my sis in law said that they constantly had visitors and they even had to feed them!! i was livid and said her poor sister! she said she had to keep going upstairs to feed the baby. i would just say sorry i am not wel and can we please see you another time? god i swear some indian families do not understand/care. i hope we dont get that and if we do, my dh will be there to send people off. oops.. lol.

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind but I added myself to the list :)

  • Aww, we've had loads of visitors and it's been lovely :) I was really pleased to see people in hospital, and it's been lovely showing Edward off to people since we got home.

I have a super-sore nipple at the moment, probably because Ed is feeding every 1-2 hours. Hopefully that will settle down now my milk is properly in.

Marta- sorry to hear your stitches are sore. I really recommend a bath (if you are allowed one with your stitches) as this will help reduce the engorgement of your breasts. You can place warm flannels on them while in the bath, and this will help encourage the excess milk to leak out but without stimulating supply like a pump will do. You can also gently massage them in a warm shower, but I have to turn the pressure of my shower right down or it hurts your nipples!

It must be a sure sign of labour Rups ;):D:rotfl:

It's probably your cold :) I haven't felt like anything today really. As or antibiotics, if you get lots of green mucus or feel worse go back before Friday. If that doctor hadn't given me antibiotics I would no way have fought this off by myself. I know antibiotics aren't for everything but ifu feel that lousy then make sure you get yourself back there.

    Good luck Bamama!

I'm feeling like I don't want many visitors but I'm sure by the time the little one is here ill be desperate to show him or her off like you say got-it-spend-it. Hope Ed is doing well :)
