  • Hi Anzac Biscuit, you are very welcome to join us. That is what I remind myself of from time to time - what the extras or 'buffer' is for.

JoJoC -totally agree about the spending diary.

Anzac- sorry that you've had a bad run of luck with spending your hard saved cash but hopefully the only way is up from now!

  • Wow, that's great, JoJoC!! Well done :)

Two more days til payday for me and I'm looking forward to topping up the savings accounts! This is the first month in forever that I've actually managed to track ALL my spends for a whole month, so I'm quite pleased with myself. At least I have something to work from.

  • I think everyone starts from 0 :) but look at the people who have saves and their methods, learn from them IMO
  • Got paid on the weekend so have transferred budgeted cash to savings, and added what I had left in the account from last month.
Nice to see a big jump in the figures - now I just need to stay within budget for the month so I don't get tempted to dip into it!

I haven't had time to read the other posts but I hope everyone is going well!

  • Approaching cautiously the last week till payday (Friday luckily).
Its all gone a bit pear shaped this month.
Need to pull the reins in tight to start off march's expenditure.
will update at the begining of month as usual.

  • Hi Lovelies!

Sorry I've been M.I.A. for a while!! Glad to hear everyone is well, and hi to all the newbies!!

Had a change of role at work since coming back from Thailand - it's absolutely crazy busy, but fantastic fun - and raking in the overtime, so hoping this will help on the savings front!

Quick update on the saving's front. Just paid for (another!) holiday in April, so this month has been a wee bit tight - still managed the £300 into my long term plan and £300 into my regular saver - so not too bad!

Looking forward to payday on Friday!! :rotfl:

    Lots of Love

  • Hi Shoot and welcome back!
Hope Thailand met with your expectations and great news on the job front.
Well i'm not really sure what happened in February. I overspent! There were a few extra expenditures not allocated for. Sons bike needed an overhall, also we did fit in an extra trip.
Still I start March with my 'spend cautiously' head on. Stats need updating as i'm slightly under the £500 now.
    Back on the trains again!

  • Thanks Davenport! Thailand was absolutely amazing - for me, Laos and Cambodia were even more incredible!

I don't know why, but February seemed to draaaaag on!!
Got paid on Friday and have made our usual £300 payment into the regular saver and £300 into my long-term plan... Fingers crossed for a better month in March and looking forward to the next holiday!

    Hope everyone is well!!

    Hello all!

I am starting from scratch also. I managed to save £1000 but then I had to buy a laptop for uni, built it back up again but had to buy important stuff for the flat. So we're at £0.40 :( such a horrible feeling spending it all, isn't it!

So, I am going to transfer £10 into my savings now. Start small like I did originally and when I am in a better position financially, I can start transferring big amounts again.

I'm saving towards a mortgage one day ultimately!
