My sympathies to those disappointed by casting or directions. My woes started with the script!

I lasted about 9 minutes into "Cranford" before I realised the script had been [STRIKE]written[/STRIKE] made by somebody who hadn't read or understood the book, but had worked from a rough outline, probably relayed by a native german speaker had read a french translation and used a french/german and then a german/english dictionary to understand it.

Why 'improve' a perfect novel that has been loved and admired by millions, when your skills lie with writing soap operas? sigh ...

As weird as it seems Robson Green is perfect I think as Tony Hill in wire in the blood, maybe because i'd watched one befoe reading Val McDermot but love the books.

I saw Roy Marsden as Tony Hill, but since seeing wire in the blood, even Val McDermid says she sees Robson Green. I think the writing in the books have changed to fit the actor now.

trying to rack my brains now for films with the correct characters.
Drew Barrymore was good casting for Firestarter and Cissy Spacek (sp) was perfect for Carrie, and I loved loved loved Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown for IT even though the film was terrible at the end.

One of the worst miscasts I saw was Legend of The Seeker...This was a mini series based on the Sword of truth books, by Terry Goodkind. The actor they cast as Richard was just as wrong as TC being Reacher! Same thing, in fact - Richard= big, blonde, rugged; actor=small, weedy, completely unrugged. Ugh, put me right off!

As for the Discworld adaptations...oh boy! David Jason as Rincewind? Please...The only one that was even remotely right was Susan in Hogfather
Is that a light I see at the end of the tunnel?;)

Oh, I don't know. Cliff Richard was just perfectly cast in that role.

    :eek::rotfl:

Indeed! Wuthering heights was an A-level set text when Cliff did that - my 6th form were desperate to go!

I did not dare organise a trip - they'd have been laughing their heads off!

I stopped reading Stuart MacBrides books after he set his first murder in MY flat, It was such a shock when I started reading it..

People pay good money for that kind of fame :D Bidding is starting at £1K to have a corpse named after you in authors books.

Anyone looking to get a taste of Stuart MacBrides work should start with reading Flesh house, it had me gripped from the first page http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flesh-House-Stuart-MacBride/dp/000724455X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341764760&sr=8-1

No, but Toby Stephens's Rochester was incredible. Perfect casting in every way.

Agreed, he was spot on as Rochester. I watched the Cary Fukunaga adaptation recently. It was ok but much as I :heart2: Michael Fassbender I don't think he worked as Rochester.

I :heart2: Tom Hardy as well, but he didn't work as Heathcliff either. The only actor that's come close to being Heathcliff was Ralph Fiennes.

I'm with the majority of TC playing Reacher! I'm not a film buff so it won't be a bad thing that I won't be watching it.

I also agree that Stephen Tompkinson is definitely NOT DC Banks, I had him pictured more like Clive Owen. I couldn't even begin to watch the programme because he was sooooo wrong.

TV's Inspector Lynley Mysteries were another one in question - I suppose Nathaniel Parker was ok but Sharon Small as Barbara Havers!!!! What was that about!

I don't picture Kenneth Branagh as Wallander either! Krister Henriksson did it so much better.

That's where my fear of clowns got more severe. He played a serial killer in Criminal Minds and was absolutely brilliant, and scary.
