Have you ever read a book and the resulting film's actor is wrong?

Nooo.. I really enjoyed those books.. that would ruin a film for me completely.. someone like Jason Statham would be alot more realistic..
Also Swedish Mikael Blomkvist was ALOT better cast than the US one.. not a prettyboy by far, and fitted in with the whole story a lot better.
I'd agree if he were a bit taller.
He's 5 feet 9, only a couple of inches taller than Tom Cruise.0 -
I've thought of another one - I haven't watched it but just from the adverts Dexter looks all wrong.
Give it a go! I've read the books and I watch the series (I love it!) and I can't imagine anybody else playing Dexter as well as Michael C Hall.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

If series one's repeated I'll try it, I don't like starting shows from a random season when it's been going for a few years.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Yep watch it from Season 1, I can practically guarantee you will be hooked! I've introduced about 8 friends to Dexter and they have all loved it - I should work for them promoting the show!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

In the books the Weasley twins are short and stocky.... I was annoyed at the films for this!:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
I've really enjoyed this thread. I hate it when a film/TV actor doesn't match up to my expectations of a character.
Possibly the worst offender in my book was Daniel Craig as Kalle Blomquist in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". I laughed so much I just couldn't take the film seriously.
My kids were very unimpressed by the recent cartoon version of the Cressida Cowell's Hiccup Horrendous Haddock books. Toothless the dragon is meant to be small and scottish and ended up huge and american in the film.0 -
Oh lordy, I better not show this thread to OH. He loves the books, but he doesn't like Tom Cruise at all. I had to break the news about his least favourite actor taking the role in his fave books - oh the pain! He has now joined twitter, solely for the purpose of putting his twitter vent out there with everyone else. Then he went hunting down youtube trailers and putting his thoughts on there too.
He likened the situation to if they made another remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and hollywood called him up (OH, 6"1, broad shouldered blokey) to play an oompa loompa.
Personally, I'm not saying TC is a crap actor, I thought he made a good Lestat for example when initally there were some misgivings about the casting.....but giving yourself a lead role that you wouldn't have had a chance in hell of getting otherwise....not good.Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -

I had only read the first book when I saw the film but read the next 2 with Daniel Craig in mind as Mikael Blomkvist and he was believable as the character. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
