If there's one thing guaranteed to make me not watch a film, it's his appearance in it.

Aaw, that's a bit harsh. I am watching transporter 2 to get my hottie fix and Jason Statham has the moves, the body, is a man of few words etc. He would have been perfect. One of the books describes reachers face as being carved from stone when the sculptor is having a bad day and Jason S definitely fits that description.

Has anyone read Kate Atkinson's books? The lead character is Jackson Brodie and I always imagined him to be a bit like Ray Winstone, although he's probably too old, but Jason Issacs as cast in the Case Histories tv series didn't really work for me.

Oh, Jason Isaacs definitely worked for me in Case Histories! :D

I enjoyed Jason Isaacs in Case Histories, but I hadn't read the books then. He's great in Awake at the moment.

Mrs Arcanum, you're spot on about MacKenzie Crook, he'd make a fantastic Rincewind. Tall, gangly, geeky and about the right age.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Jason Statham is only 2 inches taller than Tom Cruise.

If he were anywhere near Jack Reacher's height (i.e. another 8 inches taller), I'd agree with you.

I haven't read the Reacher books, but since reading this thread, I think I'm going to track them down and add to my 'to read' list.

But in the mean-time, here's my nomination:

He's HUUUGE, possibly even bigger than Alexander Skarsgard.....oh dear, I may have to go and have a lie down.....

    Me too.

I read the Bourne books years ago and Matt Damon was the absolute opposite of the Jason Bourne I had in my mind.

I lurve him (really cant wait for Magic Mike to come out and it sure as hell isn't for the story line!) but alas he is no Reacher, far too pretty.

Actually thinking about it Matthew McConaughey could work I'm pretty sure he's tall enough, sort of handsom but not too pretty.

When and where is this book club starting?? The book I am reading at the mo is only one step up from a Mills& Boon its really just not good enough

i'm just reading "Gone Girl" had really good write ups but i'm struggling a bit, it isn't moving very quickly at all, all the reviews say I won't tell you anything about it as it has massive twists in it and it will spoil it, but i'm still waiting for them to happen!

has the book club started yet? :D
