I thought the girl who played Lisbeth was brilliant in the film adaptation.

Hubby nearly had a heart attack when he discovered Tom Cruise was going to play the part. I can't stand TC, so I for one wont be watching. Nor will hubby.
  • TC should not play Jack Reacher.

There was an earlier shout for WWE wrestler Edge, but I would put Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson forward as a more realistic actor.

Books I'm reading now are Peter James, both the Roy Grace cop series, and some of his more sci-fi titles - Perfect People.

That was me (WWE is my guilty pleasure! :o)

The Rock is just not Reacher to me although you're certainly not the first to suggest him to me. Perhaps I have just read too many Reacher books imagining Edge for anyone else to play him lol.
He does have a bit of acting experience, and lets face it The Rock is hardly Laurence Olivier!

I would much rather The Rock over Tom Cruise though!!
I saw the trailer with Tom Cruise and it actually looks rather silly a midget beating up 6 huge guys. Is he even tall enough to get into the military???

    I saw the trailer too.

I didn't think it looked rather silly.

I thought it looked hilariously funny and totally unbelievable. :rotfl:

For me one of the biggest disappointments was Matthew McConaughey as Dirk Pitt in Saraha, just didnt feel right to the Clive Cussler books

Has anyone read Kate Atkinson's books? The lead character is Jackson Brodie and I always imagined him to be a bit like Ray Winstone, although he's probably too old, but Jason Issacs as cast in the Case Histories tv series didn't really work for me.

All of the Discword adaptions have been wrong for me including the cartoon versions and the live actors. All wrong. David Jason .......
Don't get me started on those. Always had Eric Idle in my head for Rincewind and latterly Mackenzie Crook.

As for Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise he definitely aint. Just gives the impression of over compensating for being short in the trailer and as believable as a three pound note.

'You think I'm a hero? I'm not a hero' - too bl**dy true you're not. Not only does he not LOOK like Reacher, he doesn't sound like him either. Didn't realise what a wimpy voice he had. Ah well. At least I won't go so def. won't be disappointed :).

I can't really remember what Jason Isaacs looks like in 'Case Histories'!I love her Jackson Brodie books.I enjoyed the adaptation.Ray Winstone could have made a very interesting Jackson, but maybe a bit too menacing?
