I shouted 'NO' out loud when I read about TC playing Reacher last year, I quite like TC, but as Reacher?? uh-uh doesn't work for me, Reacher is a huge bear of a man, with the most rose tinted specs in the world TC does not match up

    Me too!

    Jack Reacher CV:
    Height: 6 foot 5 inches
    Weight: 220-250 lbs
    Chest: 50 inches
    Inside Leg: 37 inches

So who do they choose to play this rugged giant?
    Yep! Tom Cruise. :rotfl:

Liam Neeson (sp) but think he might be a bit old for the part now, Sean Bean, hmm maybe, altho mebbe not tall enough............
    I agree with this choice.

I like the Jack Reacher books, I have a couple of charity book finds in my holiday reading pile.

    Re authors I like:
    Harlen Coben
    David Baldacci
Michael Connelly (wrote Blood Work & The Lincoln Lawyer, both made into films)
Jeffery Deaver (wrote The Bone Collector)
John Grisham (lots of his books made into films)
    Nelson Demille
Dan Brown - I thought Da Vinci Code was poor, Angels & Demons was great

For light chick lit - for me it has to be Sophie Kinsella

Following on from Mojisola's post, I think that David Suchet is just the most amazing Poirot.

I read most of Agatha Christie's books in my teens (40 years ago) and had this vision of Poirot in my head.

Peter Ustinov didn't work for me and I thought Albert Finney's version was laughable (imho).

David Suchet has Poirot's every tiny mannerism off perfectly.

He is my vision brought to life.

    Dunno.

Are you reading 50 Shades of Grey?

    If you are, definitely not.
If you're not, then probably. :rotfl:

I also like Michael Crichton's books - lots made into films. Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, Andromeda Strain, Disclosure, Sphere.
    My favourite is Airframe.

I think he was also behind ER.

Much lighter fiction is !!!!!! Francis, quite clever plots all horse based but not all horse-racing.

    I also like Wilbur Smith.

Shopaholic. Loved the books- eccentric English character. The movie destroyed it- moved it to america and then cast some awful actress who was not even American and just wasn't becky the character. Didnt physically match her but also was so wooden.

Totally agree with this, the whole humour aspect of the books is centered around a quirky, very English character and it just didnt translate into 'American' at all for me.

Really dont know why they did that.

I wasnt too struck on the casting for The Hunger Games (with the exception of Liam Hemsworth), I think I imagined Katniss to be a bit more 'exotic' looking.

I am still getting over tom cruise being cast in "interview with a vampire". He was so wrong for my imagining from reading the books.

    No, I'm not reading it.

Only cos I've already read all 3 .

I liked Michael Crichton as well, also !!!!!! Francis (though I think Mrs F actually wrote a lot of them). Haven't read WS - another one to add to list. Trouble is, Amazon don't have a charity shop for kindles so I can't pick them up for 20p each like I'm used to doing :rotfl:.

I think David Jason vastly improved the Frost character in the TV series. R. D. Wingfield wasn't happy with his depiction of the character but I tried to read the books and couldn't get into them.
