I know, that scares me... but he's used to it. I've consolidated and consolidated and he has got fed up with it. Now even though its a big amount I feel as though I'm in control. But you are right, it does scare me somewhat , the thought that I hadn't trusted him, and also scares me that he'll yell about the spending.
- he won't. Fortunately he does know about the big loan - and he does see different cc statements from time to time, he knows I move cc's about to get 0% - of course since LBM this is to reduce rather than continue spending......wherediditallgo wrote: »And how do you think he'll react if he finds out before you're ready to tell him? .
I hope this doesn't sound smug, and I am really pleased you raised this with me; its just that I do think its better to manage on my own - I earn a wee bit more than him, and he thinks I've got it all under control (which I hope will be the case as time goes on)
OOOOer, so sorry to go on, and on someone elses thread too. Slap my hands!0 -
I'm with aah. My debt is a secret from my OH. I'm nearly at the end of my journey and I feel PROUD of myself. Nobody rescued me. I felt ashamed that I got myself into a debt situation but I feel proud that I got myself out. I did it myself and learned alot along the way. I have regained my confidence. And what my OH never knew about never worried him!

Well done mustbefunny!! Is there a tempation to tell him what you've 'achieved'? There would be if it were me, in a twisted sort of a way!0

I'm totally ashamed of getting into debt and could kick myself to be honest, especially when I think of the money I've wasted on interest. I don't think that I could ever tell anyone in "real life". I've always been abit daft with money but not any more. Last night my OH said "oh you have got tight"....this was because I'd said spending £3 on a mag was "expensive" (well it is isn't it;) I had to wean my family of expensive ready made meals and take aways and on to OS stuff. Now they love my cooking......wish I knew years ago what I know now....
Anyway, I'm not saying my secret way is the right way for everyone just that it's been the right way for me....but I wish I'd never got into debt in the first place:o 0 -
I haven't told my OH the full extent of our debts partly because I know he would worry about it (and to be honest he has far too much to worry about as it is) so as long as I can deal with it, I'm not telling him.
I have stopped hiding the statements from him so he could work out the balance if he wanted to.
At the end of the day everyone has to make their own judgement call on what to do.2014 Target;
