Take it from me the best thing to do is tell your partner. I've just had to confront my wife and tell her that i am in a lot of debt. I'm really surprised how she's handled it. I was expecting a lot of shouting but it was very calm and she is very angry but supportive.0

I think you need to tell her, then work on how to sort it out together. I kept a lot of my financial problems from my partner & he's now my ex - we didn't split up because of money, but the pressure I felt from keeping the secret & keeping up a pretence that everything was OK didn't help things. For however long it takes you to sort it all out, you'll be keeping a big secret from your wife, & she'll be hurt that you didn't feel able to tell her. Also, she'll be spending money not realising how tight things are, & she'll then feel bad thinking that she increased your debts without realising. It's much better to be honest with her. Show her that you recognise there's a problem & that you're getting advice about how to deal with it, & would welcome her support.i serioully think she would leave me, but i cant cope with the covering up anymore
If you really think she'd leave you over the debts, then you've already lost as much as you can, because the support isn't there that should be for when either one of you is in trouble. I'd be very surprised if she left, though. Yes, she'll be angry, but that will also be partly because she's scared about what the future holds for you both. She'll calm down eventually, & as long as you can show her that you are trying to do something about it, I think she'll help you. Please let us know how it goes.
