I guess they have left you in the dark to why they changed their minds?

Did it get to the stage where you let them know the person the driver said signed was out of the country at the time?

No I never did let them know

I think a combination of me pestering them especially when I was copying in the CEO to every email

And them having delivered to my address before and having my signature on file may have had something to do with it

Or they did what I said and looked at every signature the driver in question obtained and his squiggle on my delivery matched elsewhere

    I will never know

I think the main problem you had with the negative people was the way you went about it. You could quite easily have written to the CEO of the delivery company and the seller earlier than you did, without going through getting handwriting analysis, etc. which was never needed.

Unfortunately what you described happens every day with couriers and Royal Mail, items being signed for, either by the deliverer or someone at an incorrect address. A quick investigation by the company usually sorts it out and if it doesn't and you persevere they will concede.

Am I also right in thinking that several weeks down the line you still haven't got any money back?

Easy to say after the event - no-one said to contact CEO

As for the handwriting expert - when you have your signature forged you take it very personally and want to do everything possible to prove you are right - so at the time I would have tried anything

The reality is a lot of people were negative and had their own theories - even accusing me of being a troll

Probably sellers themselves who may have been burned by dishonest buyers

I did it my way and got there in the end and that is all that counts

You never asked;) If you're complaining to a large company it's always worth finding the name of chairman and head office details.

You haven't said if you've actually received any money back yet?

The vendor said they are awaiting the claim procedure to go through which should be by Monday

I stated that they should just refund and stop flaffing about - lets see what happens

I'd keep on that, in my experience even when they know they are in the wrong the couriers will do their best to wriggle out of a claim and drag it out. On my last claim in similar circumstances I refunded the buyer in November, received settlement in February. On another claim, despite them admitting they more or less binned the parcel, they said the items were on a list of goods they didn't carry, I eventually got paid on that too.

I bought something a while ago and the delivery man just handed it to me, I didn't sign for it, even though I could see it was supposed to be signed for. I looked online out of curiosity on the RM website and it had the signed for status, apparently signed for by "me". I assume that the delivery man forged my signature as it definitely wasn't mine.

So the success came from going after the courier after all!! Could say I told you so but I won't be that petty ;)

And there was no need for the graphologist either surprise surprise!

Compensation for time wasted, possibly - anguish for forged signature...LOL!!

Well done on a positive resolution and thanks for the entertainment along the way :D

Socrates is/was still awaiting refund, which can only come from the seller. If the seller puts claim in for goods and the courier pay out, then there will still be a wait for the seller to pay out. Given their previous track record they may not bother with the claim, or if they do, not necessarily pay out. This case is not over until Socrates has money back for the lost goods, receiving apologies/admissions is nothing without the cash.
