Be careful with that as you are likely to get recorded which is not a suitable service for most items.

You must know in advance what service you want to use, RM basically only do two, recorded or special- although there are often various parcelforce ones available as well. Don't rely on the PO to give you the right one.
It's usually the ParcelForce one (and includes insurance).

What sort of size/weight items are you sending? You're probably overpaying by buying PF services at a post office. Pretty much anything that PF offers can be obtained much cheaper via the likes of ParcelMonkey.

Escalated to a claim on 6.7.12

The Graphologist was so disgusted that she is prepared to provide her opinion for free - just that I make a donation to charity - if and when it comes to it

Having seen my signature on several documents and this 'supposed' signature - its an open and shut case - in her opinion

    is that comparing electronic signatures?

DPD - the drivers are franchisees - connected to Geo Post
DPDs model is some franchised and some salaried drivers.

    Update

As predicted PayPal found against me

So I contacted Geopost and asked about my questions to the driver

The vendor had not forwarded the email and as I have no contract with the delivery company (DC) only the vendor can request info from the DC

I asked the DC forgetting who has a contract with who would they not want to know and look into a driver signing on behalf of customers - got the same blank answer

I have now emailed Dwain McDonald - Chief Executive of Geopost

Funnily enough I just received an email from his PA and the matter is going to be looked at more carefully

One of my suggestions is that they look at all the signatures obtained by the driver in question and see if any of them match up to the POD for me - if he has signed on my behalf he will have done so with others and will get caught out

Will keep everyone updated - but I am not letting this matter drop

If I have no luck next step is to Issue a Notice before Proceedings that might wake the vendor up - who seems to have washed their hands of this matter

In one of your posts I think you summed up what happened, the driver signed, left it on the step and someone stole it.

You say the signature was a circle with a line at the bottom, I bet is they check the drivers machine they will see a few more like that.

I think they need to move to fingerprints as this just shows what a waste of time signatures are on those machines.

so you didn't provide this 'proof' that can prove the driver signed for it?

you've just made a suggestion that they look at past signatures? and
this is the 'proof' that you want to use if it gets to court, when you
don't know if there is in fact any proof there :rotfl:

A letter before action wont do anything, the seller can prove its been
    delivered, you're clutching at straws.

I will save the proof for the court case for maximum impact

At the moment I am trying to get the DC to perform a proper investigation and ask questions that I want answered - yet both sides tried to wash their hands

Sometimes contacting the CEO starts to jolt people as the investigators are now being questioned on how they have or have not done their job

As always your input is greatly appreciated and I know you are rooting for me

Perhaps having your signature forged and losing out on over £200 warrants your little smilies - hope it never happens to you or your family

The driver returned yesterday and confirmed the man who answered the door (my father) was the gentleman who originally signed for the parcel

Perfect now we all know who signed for the parcel including MSE forum users, the CEO of the delivery company and everyone else involved

The only problem is that my father was not in the country when the delivery was signed for - and this can be proved beyond any reasonable doubt!

Stay tuned for the next episode
