8-13 extra rows? How did you come up with those numbers? Most legacy carriers using the 737-800 have 30 rows against Ryanair's 33 (with row 1 only having 3 seats on the latter) and usually use up more space for the galley which doesn't provide overhead locker space. The difference in overhead locker space available for each passenger is minimal. Remember, you're talking one extra inch of seat pitch on most legacy carriers compared to Ryanair. In a 737-800 without business class one less inch of legroom isn't going to release more than one or two extra rows. Even on routes very heavy on business class traffic I don't see the total number of rows in a 737-800 getting close to 20.0 -
Sorry, my mistake. I was looking at a 737-500. American Airlines for example has 28 rows in a 737-800, whereas Ryanair has 32½ rows.8-13 extra rows? How did you come up with those numbers? Fair enough though that's still only a difference of 4 1/2 rows, not 8-13

I'm not saying it makes no difference but I think you're overstating the difference, especially when you take into consideration that legacy carriers generally allow more carry-on. And when there's a difference it will usually have more to do with the fact that legacy carriers have a business class section which frees up more overhead locker space per passenger, rather than the extra inch of legroom in economy.0

You are quoting numbers which are meaningless to try and support a non-existent argument.That's still 16% more passengers with the same overhead locker space, which is significant enough to make the difference between adequate space and insufficient space.
The AA flight has first class at the front with increased pitch and therefore increased overhead space. Economy pax will not be allowed to put their carry on bags there. To compare like with like, AA passengers are getting one inch of linear overhead space more between 3 passengers (difference between the two carriers seat pitch) or 1/3" each or approx 3%.0 -
It's impossible to claim the refund. I followed the link they sent and there is no option specific to this tax. Then I called. "Call volumes too high to process this call". I want to cancel, cannot and they plan to take more cash off me on 13th July. How do I claim my refund?0

You may also be able to do this if you have paid using a Visa debit card.0 -

You really going to scrub your holiday and claim a refund for a few Euro? or is there another reason?0 -
Ryanair have only given the cost of the extra tax in Euros. Will they try to take it in Euros, or will they convert to GBP before billing? Just don't want to incur foreign currency charges on top. That would add insult to injury.0
