I was charged £1.16 yesterday for a flight I took on 7th July from Valencia on Ryanair. I understand and support the decision to pass the charge on, but an e-mail letting me know would have been nice.[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0

Ryanair is one of the companies passing this Spanish airport tax onto their customers fair enough but I only read about it on a news bulletin I spotted by chance on the Ryanair website and then it was debited from my account with no warning e.mail as promised come on mike your always mouthing off what's your answer to this one it's already caused many problems for lots of people not only the ones who used one of your credit cards wih a limited top up .it might have only been a small amount and what would it have cost you to e.mail the people concerned0

I guess you didn't read the T&C then.
My own view is if they haven't got a couple of quid left on their credit cards they should be at home saving to pay off their debts not taking overseas holidays they can't afford.
But hey what do I know (Retired - very early, sat in the sun with no debts)

It would be really helpful if someone could respond to the original question of whether you can pay the tax at the airport, by alternative payment method, or not at all, and still fly! The situation applies to me as I have a Cash Passport with a low balance that declined the extra payment. I'd especially like to hear from anyone who's in the same situation and has already travelled.
Thanks!!
P.S. Morality/legality of the tax is irrelevant to me right now, I just want my problem solved!0 -

Have a look at post 89.0 -
Have a look at post 89.
That’s not really an answer, its a statement. Post 89 says they spoke to a Ryan air agent that would only verbally confirm that an unpaid surcharge wouldn't affect her booking. As that poster has not come back we can assume it either didn't stop the booking or they could be still be stranded in Spain because they didn't pay before departure!!
No one on here is 100% sure that an unpaid surcharge will or will not affect their booking, but if it did I am sure we would have heard on this forum at some point.0 -
It contained info relevant to Jamesy4894's question and maybe he missed the post.0

On page 10 of the October 2012 Which magazine, there is an article about this. Ryanair has been retrospectively charging passengers after they have flown, which breaches clause 4.2.2 of its own terms and conditions. A Which researcher was charged and was refunded when he complained.0
