I have not given birth, but would you want to find out afterwards the man who held you hand was doing the same for someone else? That your support at this time was insincere, or in someway, not whole?

He has just informed me that if I tell my friend what happened today he will tell her that he and I have been having an affair.

That's it I need to get solid proof as she knows I don't like him and she may believe him over me.

would you rather find out after the birth instead, that your husband and your best friend had been hiding this from you?

Then you need to engineer it so that they are all in the same place at the same time. You will not be to blame then.

Do you have a sound recording feature on your phone, or a microphone for you PC? Call him back and try to record the conversation?
Did you see if they left the shop with any bags earlier - credit card bill might show an Ann Summers transaction for today's date that you could show her as proof (though guess he may say he was buying it for you)
Will the co-worker back you up, do you think? Maybe if you trick her into it, invite your friend to your office and show the coworker a photo of the husband & ask co-worker if she knows him?
Is the co-worker on Facebook? You could add her to see if there's any photos of her and him? Or maybe try to procure one for her, say you'd like to get one framed for an engagement gift and could she email one to you?

Yes I would.

Giving birth was very traumatic for me 36 hours labour and my baby nearly died. If I had this added pressure at the time I do not know how I would have coped.

that makes no sense though - your friend knows you don't like him, but would believe from him that you were having an affair with him?

Some people will believe anything rather than face an ugly truth and the possibility of losing their husband.

He is bluffing, call him on it.

What good would it do him to tell her that? If he is prepared to tell her that he may as well tell her the truth.

You have the upper hand and he knows it. Additionally, the other women doesn't know either so he knows if you spill the beans he will lose out all round. Get to your friend and tell her, get to your colleague and tell her, tell them both what he threatened too. Nasty piece of work needs sorting out.
