My main prob now is eggs - they are so expensive £1.24 for 6 for the cheapest of free range (It's no good I can't do battery). And the spelt/rye flour I need for my baking is very expensive I use SP flour too and that's fine.
Our eggs are £1.26 for 6 free range - however I've discovered that the market (which is 3mins walk from our Asda) sells 6 for 90p - straight from the local farm and I was assured they were free range...
Smart Price Malt Loaf (18p!!!) has gone down just fineIts great for lunches - and particularily for putting on weight (well attempting to do so healthily)

I concur with the comment - above - about Sainsbury's Basics Teabags, they are very reasonable for the money and I would certainly purchase again.
I usually shop at Tesco or Asda, depending on how my mood takes me, but tonight I got my weekly shop at Morrisons. While I noticed there's not much difference as to the price of "ordinary" own-brand stuff, their "Value"/"Bettabuy" range is much reduced compared to Tesco/Asda meaning that, given most of the stuff I buy is Value, the shop was waaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive (and I wasn't able to get everything I wanted without paying over the odds). In this respect Tesco and Asda, and even Sainsbury's, are miles ahead of Morrisons.
I think I'll revert to Tesco for future shops, even though it's a bit of a trek out of my way!#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

DH won't eat any other beans apart from Branson baked beans so I have been buying Value type beans whatever supermarket I am in.
I even bought the lidl baked beans last week which he said he would never ever eat as they were disgusting and with a spoonful of branson pickle mixed in he has no clue that its a different brand. They have more sauce but I just strain them a bit more and give him less sauce0 -
Asda Value Museli has much more fruit and nuts in than sainsbury's, which tastes like sawdust and Sainsbury' s Value Cornflakes are just as good as Kellogs but leave Asda value cornflakes because they are horribleBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Tesco Value Tortilla chips are great! They're 18p for a 100g bag and taste much nicer than Doritos do.0

Sorry if I've missed any mention of this further up the thread:
Do any of the supermarket value brands do frozen peas that are similar in quality to the ordinary store's own brand? I'm never buying Tesco Value peas again because I tried them once and they were like bullets (the taste was OK, it was just the texture - they made good soup, which was the only palatable way I could find to use them up).
I have access to all major supermarkets and would be grateful if somebody could point me in the direction of cheap and tasty peas.Operation Get in Shape
