tesco value fresh meat is amazing! belly pork strips, pork chops, (proper chops with the bone still in them), mince beef, bacon - in fact everything.0

Sainsburys Basics tea bags are ok, 80 for 30p.
If you don't like them then at the price you haven't lost a lot if you end of binning them.0 -
I know it was a while back, but people were asking for a cheaper alternative to marg/butter for baking. I use veg oil - the pure rapeseed stuff instead. It takes a bit of getting used to, you have to adjust until the mix looks right but things are coming out lovelly and fluffy and no one can tell the diff. I got the idea from my MIL who has a heart condition and was told to do this by the doc. It's waaaay cheaper and healthier as there are less additives in pure rapeseed oil (well duh!). If you feel the need you can always add a little salt to make up for the lack of it.
My main prob now is eggs - they are so expensive £1.24 for 6 for the cheapest of free range (It's no good I can't do battery). And the spelt/rye flour I need for my baking is very expensive I use SP flour too and that's fine.
The other annoying thing is that if you want to be slightly healthier you have to pay at least double the price of value. Wholemeal flour, pasta, brown rice ect ect. Anyone know where to get these things cheaper or good bulk buy - I have tried polish shops for the rye and spelt but it's all refined and the indian and continental stores only do white rice (but they are brilliant for different types of flour, cous cous, herbs and spices and lots of other things).0 -
i been buying them all. latest was tesco value shampoo 27p best shampoo i ever used so far. first botle was green. got another it peach col not tried it yet. i also like the daisy products. w powder is ok0

im afraid i wont be blackmailed in to paying more for supposedly healthier stuff. it all a big con at times. after all can you prove it organic and hasnt been subjected to pesticides etc. and whats wrong with tap water.?? if you were dying for drink it would be like nectar0

I have noticed that our local tesco is selling more discounted brands and less value.
They are not " brands " as such just silly names (Wheatfield Bakery, Country Morn, Harvest Crop etc) Tesco has thought up cos they are running scared of Aldi. Small print on packaging shows them as being produced for Tesco.

I like the value pasta but have just noticed it's doubled in price.
Biscuits I agree are great! The bags of snacks chipsticks, onion rings and cheese puffs are nice. Tortilla at 19p are very acceptable. Kidney beans and tomatoes.
Sometimes in the value potatoes you get huge potatoes which make lovely jacket potatoes and they are always pretty tasty.
Value sanitary towels are okay and the tissues are fine.
Don't like value toilet paper, baked beans or pickle.
