.. I prefer it to any other type I've tried, as it's less sweet and really tastes of peanuts rather than just sugar and oil. I have the crunchy variety and you can see big chunks of peanut. And it's only about 50p a jar.
OTOH, have tried value soya milks from Tesco and Sainsbury's and they're a total waste of time - they seem to use the same amount of soya as Alpro, but dilute it with more water. This is particularly rubbish if you put it in your tea. If I just wanted dilute Alpro, I could top it up with water myself!0 -

Tesco Value peanut butter - Had it before and its been fine but last jar was almost pure oil - will stick to Asda SP in future0 -

I use soya in my tea and use the tesco UHT one, is about 63p i think and i dont notice a difference between that and Alpro. Its in a blue carton beside all the other UHT stuff.
Before that all i would buy is Alpro as i didnt like anything else. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I dont know if this is true (although it makes sense) i was told that value frozen veg is what there is a glut of so with peas they will fill the orders for big brands birds eye etc then any suplus to requirements will go in the value bags - so when I buy peas I give the bag a feel and if the peas are nice and small I buy them , if too big I go up a price band to shops own brand - the last value peas i bought were like petit pois
Lidl is great for chocolate spread (stripy jar better than nutella) all jam and marmalade, frozen mozrella pizza twin pack wonderful had very favourable comments. pickles especially gerkins, cornichins and olives but NOT red cabbage too sweet!
my kids prefer the cheaper malties and i wont even buy shreddies even if on BOGOF0 -
just remembered sainsburys value kidney beans are in water - no sugar no salt, ob have both0

I have tried the following tesco value products and actually they make up most of my regular shop,
tinned ; new potatoes, baked beans, sausage & beans, mushy peas, carrots, sweetcorn, soups (veg & tomato), spaghetti, chopped toms, plum toms, curry sauce, sweet n sour sauce, tuna, kidney beans, meatballs, rice pudding, custard.
I also buy; tesco value "pot noodles", custard powder sachets, minced beef, whole chicken, cup soups, eggs, pizzas, polony, bread, ham, some fruit and veg, stir frys and the such.
I also buy a lot of tesco own brand that is not value; pasta, rice, washing powder, baby wipes and nappies.
I think I've just given everyone my entire shopping list ha ha. My point basically is that I recommend at least trying the value brands, its better on your pocket and tastes just as nice if not better.0 -
I use tesco own brand washing up powder not the value but wanted to point out that is it cheaper to buy the larger size. 1Kg is 4.20 and 2kgs is 4.00 just guessed the prices and sizes but just trying to illustrate the point. The same goes for Tesco Hot Oats it costs less to buy the larger box so always check the prices.0

Morrisons Value Kitchen Towel and Orange Juice are both good. Own brand reduced sugar/salt baked beans are good too.Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j0

We usually buy Sainsbury's basics veg as they are good value. I use their 300ml shower gel, 10p, you may have to use a little bit more but it's still a very good saving.
I always buy basic/value tinned toms - can't find anything wrong with them, but I'm a bit fussy with BB. Tried loads but still prefer heinz!
Tried basic/value pasta but no-one liked it. It was too 'al-dente' even after cooking it way over the time suggested!
We've tried quite a lot of the value things but if they don't taste/work right, then we don't get them again.
