  • I bought some S basics pasta the other day - only 18p for a 500g bag, and it was great, no different from the pasta I normally buy - will definately buy it againl
  • Can someone tell me if Tesco do value tinned mushrooms and also value sultanas, I can't see them online but I rarely get to a big store to check.

They don't seem to do the tinned value mushrooms anymore. I haven't seen them in my local for about a year now. They're 1 of the few things I stock up on when I go to Morrisons occasionally.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but Tesco Value ground Coffee at £1.06 makes perfectly good coffee in my cafetiere for drinking in the day - I do prefer something a little stronger for after a really nice dinner though

Short on money I bought the value mince and passata from Asda last week to make bolognese. I'd never thought I'd say this but it was the best/tastiest bolognese I've ever made so I will definitely buy those products again

MrS does a basic tin of mushrooms, they are 36p a tin, I also have them in as a stand by, and as they are only in water, I don't worry about the added salt that comes in some of the other tins.

Been trying out the Asda SmartPrice biscuits over the past few weeks. All the ones we've had so far have been fine. This week - bourbons, digestives and choc chip. I still make Twinks for the adults in the family, but the SmartPrice ones are great for the grandkids :D.

Last week I made a very tasty Tuna, Sweetcorn and Mayo filling for jacket spuds. Everything was SmartPrice! The tuna, sweetcorn, mayo, onions AND potatoes - and no complaints from anybody.

I bought some Tesco value shower gel to try today and when I took it up into the bathroom I noticed that it's same colour as Lynx "shock" shower gel. There was only a little bit of the Lynx stuff left so I've topped it up with the value stuff then added a few drops of peppermint oil (the Lynx gel is minty flavour) and my OH says it smells and looks just like the real thing!

The real test will come tomorrow morning when my 21yr old DS uses it, he's an advertisers dream when it comes to hair & body products, so I'm saying nothing and waiting to see if he notices that he's actually using 19p value shower gel! :D

  • Don't know about value mushrooms, but Tesco definitely do value sultanas as I bought some myself last week and can recommend them.
They also do pate which I think someone else was asking about and although I don't eat it myself DH certainly likes it!

did my Tesco shop today and noticed a lot of the value products are now branded as "market value" think it was mainly fruit and veg. is this an attempt to make value products seem more appealing to the credit crunch refugees?

  • Sainsburys Basics Weetabix are much nicer than the real ones!
